Atheist. I would go into more detail, but I can get into a real rant and don't have time for it now.

I dont say you do, but I bet you will ~~ swear using God's name and end up praying if you are face to face with an AK 47 and cant hide or run.

yesIwill2008 -> RE: Are you religious, Atheist or agnostic? (9/23/2008 10:02:07 AM)

"Religion" is a set of practices; "faith" is a belief system.  My religion has vacillated a bit over the years (and, at one time, so did my faith, though both are solid now).  I think faith trumps any particular religion; you can have faith without practicing any specific religion ... but having faith in God (or whatever you call your higher power) is different from being "spiritual."

I have no religious affiliations ... since I am god and my slave prays to me every night

Atheist. By the way this reply and your snarky one to sf drew don't do a hell of a lot to further the cause of loving and kind Christianity.

I am a born again christian which to me is not a religion.

Religions are formed by man in search of......well..whatever he is searching for.

I simply believe in Jesus and have faith in the words of the bible.

(but just so you know...I attend a Southern Baptist Church for fellowship for fun.. even if we cant dance [:(] )

I didnt realize curiosity in poly was more interesting than dancing...esp since The Bible doesn't give specific instructions on dancing.   http://www.gotquestions.org/Christian-dance.html
While the NT, remember we live under GRACE not the LAW, says a ton about one man for one female.

it is responses such as this that keep so many from posting on Faith/Belief/Religion threads.

Actually, I have been in the Army for six years, and have deployed to Iraq twice. I have been in many combat situations and even though I was lucky to come back alive with all my fingers and toes, I knew a lot of good men who weren't. Mortars, snipers, IED's, I've been closer than I'd like to all of them.

That old saying about there being no atheists in foxholes is wrong. Not that I would know, but I would think a religious person would have their faith challenged in that kind of lifestyle where it seems like god is dealing out punishments unfairly. But, of course, to a person like me who believes that men caused all the destruction over there for selfish reasons, then everything makes perfect sense and I don't have to ask why. It is very clear why.

Your poll does not take into consideration couples profiles where the religious belief is different.

the.dark.

I'm not trying to be an ass or anything, but exactly how do you suggest fixing something like that? What about poly profiles which have several people? Are you going to have fifty choices for every possible combination of people sharing a profile? Most people who have a couple profile also have individual profiles. I mean, there really is no good way to address this problem.

ALL HAIL ZEUS, MIGHTY GOD OF THUNDER!!

I wonder why those old Roman/Greek/etc religions are now called "mythology." People worshiped those gods the same way people worship their own now-a-days.

Oh well, I'm an atheist anyway.

Hehe- the one thing useful I ever got from Domiguy.

I was raised pentecostal, but got tired of the church leaders 'literally' shoving beliefs at everyone- when they prayed for you, you were expected to fall over. If you didn't feel like having your head on the floor, they'd shove you.

The hell?

That, and they were a bucket of pervs at both churches we attended.

If you are going to be a perv, at least admit it. ^_^

Know what? I have ALWAYS been wondering about the exact same thing to be honest... I think that greek and nordic mythology is friggin awesome, and would be even more so if it was actually real.

Its ok Aynne...my dancing comment was very tongue in cheek as I do in fact dance and other things not quite so baptist. I will say this though. I did check out the poly lifestyle and found out it wasnt for me. I just havent taken it off my profile. And I was baptized after that relationship fell in the toilet.

I know that God loves me and forgives me my curiosities...and thats all that matters to me. [&:]

Reconstructionist Jew

And I think the breakdown here is the same as in society at large.

Surata -> RE: Are you religious, Atheist or agnostic? (9/23/2008 5:36:29 PM)

I guess I fall under agnostic at this point.  I believe in what I can see or experience for myself, and since I have never seen nor experienced anything that I can consider a manifestation of God, then I refuse to make any judgement one way or another as to his or her existence.  By the way, I HAVE had a gun pointed at my face, and I never once asked any God to save me or my soul.

LadyLupineNYC -> RE: Are you religious, Atheist or agnostic? (9/23/2008 5:41:01 PM)

Agnostic- god understand why I don't believe in him, her, it, they, whatever; nor do I think god would need me to.

In my instance the weapon, wasn't in my face, but was being shot at.  I didn't have time to pray, all I was thinking about was cover/concealment and returning fire.  One of the reasons I have a CCW and carry everywhere I legally can.  Funny thing was, I was a *forced* christian at the time.

Jessie my comment was not to you, it was to realsub's comments to you and sf drew. I hate that kind of judgemental garbage. Please look again [&:]

OK this made me laugh!
[sm=biggrin.gif]

Greedy, i had a friend in college who referred to Episcopalians as p.o.'d Catholics, if that makes any difference.
