Tavian -> Musical advice? (9/22/2008 3:17:35 PM)

What are some pieces of music that some of you use to set the mood for a scene? Are there some favorites out there?

  Delirium, esp. ‘Karma’. Great for both kink and non kink.  I have also used the CD single of Mark Ronson’s ‘Stop Me’ to great effect, but that is more specific to my slave and I.  Between the blind for and the first 5 seconds of that song, he starts trembling.  Great ‘trick’ when it works *purrrs*

Organ music by J.S. Bach, like some of his preludes and fugues.

Harpsichord music by Scarlatti.

Symphonies by Beethoven ...

Tons of stuff, depends just what you are going for.

Disturbed and Tool are probably my two favorites.  Disturbed ramps up intensity, and I love that.

Cool..thank your for the replies so far.. Sunnyfey...wow..a complete playlist!! Thank you! I think I like the dark, heavy, gothic sound (like Type O Negative) but wonder if that might be too oppressive. How about Lords of Acid? They definitely know how to sex a sex charged song..but will techno set a mood conducisve to bdsm?

Not sure if any of you are familiar with it...but "Black Aria" by Glenn Danzig is great for setting a very darkly oppressive mood.

good music for sure but can you pull off a serious humiliation scene to "Spank my booty come on and spank my booty, spank my booty spank my booty real good!" I defy a submissive not to laugh during that song.

and as for the slower oppressive songs, they tend to have the thumpy bass sounds which help with keeping  a rythem during a flogging scene. I suggest get your music collection out and play around with your floggers and pay attention to how some music can just throw it all off. And as for techno, it has the start stops that can fuck up the rythem of the floggings also, and the random deathly silence during those stop and swing someone out of headspace in a snap.

All I know is that if I ever have a call to waterboard a sub, I'm playing Rage Against the Machine while I'm doing it.

It's tradition, you know.

Hell yeah...definitely Evanescence.  (Thanks, now I got visions of Amy Lee in my head...[;)])

For me, I've experienced Evanescence, Metallica, Slayer, and White Zombie.  So, pretty much anything with a hard rock/metal twist and I'm good.  I'm also looking to add Drowning Pool and Nickelback.

PrincessJ77 -> RE: Musical advice? (9/28/2008 9:14:09 AM)

Ravel's Bolero
