This is what is currently going on in Indianapolis. As I find out more info, I'll post more.

Part one

Part two

Both of these stories came from one of the local tv stations. I'm trying to find it in the news paper. However, I believe the station that is reporting it so prominantly is a rival of one who did a piece on her a few months back, maybe in the spring, that was positive about her business ... if I could find the other website, I'd see what they have to say about it.

The IndyStar

That's the link to what I could find in the paper. This really irritates me. This is the same woman that they have been living next to for how long? The same person that has been running her business without causing a disturbance (not that others haven't caused them, but she never started the trouble) for how many years? And it isn't like she was "outed" because she was trying to lure children into her home, or she was holding anyone hostage, or was beating people out on her front lawn. This all came about because someone made an appointment with her and got what he asked for.

*sigh* People suck ... usually in bad ways.

the part about her living in the vacinity of a catholic grade school and a public library really caught my eye as well. fundamentalism is getting a bit out of hand.

This doesn't appear to be fundamentalist neighbors. Rather, the proximity of the school, etc. are being used as a zoning or other excuse to shut her down. This appears to be a typical politically driven "vice" crackdown. Coming from a place like Indianapolis which is not known for its tolerance of alternative lifestyles, this is hardly surprising, though disappointing. Perhaps the Mayor needs to distract the citizens of the town from him abysmal record of job creation, failing to merge police departments, budget problems, and so on and so son.

erm... isn't this the same woman who a couple years ago was taking clients out in public in full fetish regalia? See photos at:

The photos aren't exactly accurate. The ones posted on that site are from a fetish event (yes, they do exist in Indy) - any outdoor activities are done privately (i.e. at a fetish event, or on private property). I know her - and keep in mind, this is the same station that has been publicizing the current activities.

As I pointed out before, she wasn't outed by luring people in, or spanking someone on the front lawn - it was by someone who made an appointment with her and got what he asked/paid for.

Okay, I understand. Yes, my sense of the news coverage two years ago is that the local TV station was doing a sensationalistic series for sweeps week. And she was targetted as the sensation.

Yeah, that's pretty much it. It's all an attempt to sensationalize something, anything, to get higher ratings. And by pushing people's buttons (by pointing out repeatedly how close it is to the school ... even though no one ever said anything about her activities being seen around the school, things like that) they can keep it in the news and make the story even more than it is - and more than it should be.

If she is violating zoning laws, then something should have been done 2 years ago when this station tried this - but at that time, it was said that she wasn't doing anything illegal, that her business was run properly and by the law ... and if they changed the zoning laws, then they should have notified her.

what does her proximity to a "catholic grade school" (italics mine) and "a public library" have to do with what is done in her basement??? from other things i read in the papers there, they were questioning the salary of the major and eluding to the kkk. fundamentalism not involved? uh huh.

I'm not sure what a public library has to do with religious fundamentalism. Also, most people labeled as fundamentalists are protestant, not catholic. The minister of the church was in fact quoted on one of the linked artices saying he had "no reason to believe the house poses a danger".

There are many reasons besides fundamentalism why people do not want sexually oriented businesses in their neighborhood. People have a legitimate concern about sexually oriented businesses in proximity to children (which is why the library and school were mentioned). And people in residential neighborhoods have been known to oppose almost anything other than residences in their area. Industrial and commercial developments of any type - and even new housing developments - are routinely opposed by neighbors complaining about inappropriate property use, the character of the neighborhood, traffic, and the ultimate bogeyman, property values.

I'm not saying this isn't a closed minded or narrow view. But it is not linked to fundamentalism. Fundamentalists may not be friends of the BDSM lifestyle - though there are in fact many Christian BDSM practioners and a D/s lifestyle is in many ways far more compatible with a traditional Christian "wives submit to your husbands" world view than a modern egalitarian one - but they don't seem to be the drivers here. You don't have to be a fundamentalist not to want a strip club, massage parlor, or dungeon in your neighborhood.

Could turn out to be good advertising for her. Funny that they never mentioned whether the under cover cop enjoyed himself. Want to bet he did? Lol.

I agree that mentioning the proximity of a catholic grade school, etc. is simple sensationalistic journalism. Most of it is these days. Have they tried to pin the disappearance of dogs and cats in the area to her also. Only kidding but wouldn't surprise me if the bastards try to name her as the 2nd gunman on the grassy knowl.

exactly. no threat, but they put it in. as to the religious choices of fundamentalists, they come from all different walks of life and beliefs, and some are catholic. the thing here is that this woman did what she did in her basement. isn't a catholic minister called a priest?

then why not the local 7-11 or any other place frequented more by children than the public library? makes no sense to me.

Christians aren't beyond being fundamentalists; it's a non-discrimination way of thinking, and many are Christian, many are other religions, including Muslim and others

if this is the case, i ask as the original poster did, why this woman wasn't brought up on zoning restriction violations? guess that's why some places have "planned communities."
