I think Biden and Obama both make far worse gaffes than she does. And they're both career politicians... I'd much prefer a moose hunting Alaska babe than a life-long Washington insider

Gaffes happen to everyone, Obama, Biden, and McCain.  You can overlook gaffes.  This is outright stupidity.  I have yet to see this woman make an intelligent, coherent statement that she wasn't given to read off a script.

And this is the crappy part for Palin: not only is she incapable of making her own sentences... she's actually unable to make sense of what she's reciting from script. When a politician can't even bluff, you know they have no talent whatsoever.

When Couric asked how Alaska's closeness to Russia enhanced her foreign policy experience, Palin said, "Well, it certainly does because our ... our next-door neighbors are foreign countries."

I don't know what to say.....

Apparently the Couric interview didn't go to well according to the reviews. SNL seems to exist during the weekdays now.

Where did you copy your first quote from? I looked at the article and the closest I could find was this -
Asked what insight she had gained from living so close to Russia, she said: "They're our next-door neighbors and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska."

You didn't by any chance rewrite her words a little bit did ya?

You didn't by any chance not read the whole article did ya?

It's an exact quote.

I could make a very similar list of quotes by Obama or Biden.

Youtube has the video, too.

Yeah, the political satire writers are having a field day.
Remember the good old days of VP Dan Quayle?
Those public statements that were so bad as to be positively painful?  Word was that he was not to be let out for public speaking without his wife by his side to whisper in his ear before he opened his mouth.

Put down your drinks before reading.

Here are some of his actual quotes -

"What a waste it is to lose one's mind. Or not to have a mind is being very wasteful. How true that is."

"The Holocaust was an obscene period in our nation's history. I mean in this century's history. But we all lived in this century. I didn't live in this century."

"I believe we are on an irreversible trend toward more freedom and democracy -- but that could change."

"I have made good judgments in the past. I have made good judgments in the future."

"The future will be better tomorrow."

"Mars is essentially in the same orbit . . . Mars is somewhat the same distance from the Sun, which is very important. We have seen pictures where there are canals, we believe, and water. If there is water, that means there is oxygen. If oxygen, that means we can breathe."

"We're going to have the best-educated American people in the world."

"People that are really very weird can get into sensitive positions and have a tremendous impact on history."

"We have a firm commitment to NATO, we are a part of NATO. We have a firm commitment to Europe. We are a part of Europe."

"[It's] time for the human race to enter the solar system."

"Verbosity leads to unclear, inarticulate things."

"I stand by all the misstatements that I've made."

Yeah, I watched the Katie interview. Her answers were disjointed, and confused. If it reminded me of anything, it was of the android Norman in that old Star Trek episode, "I, Mudd" when he gets caught in a logical paradox and blows his circuits.

Yes, Sarah, where will the Russians go? As Putin rears his head and flies over American airspace... where...will..they...go?!

I feel so... secure... that she'll be just one heartbeat away from the Presidency.

Well, they all talk too much and listen too little so its stands to reason they'll cock it up more often than one might expect on both counts

Oh, so you are voting for a third party then?

Cause McCain is pretty much as much of an insider as they come.

Sarah Palin is like a really talented minor leaguer, suddenly called up to the pros.  I think she's just a little lost, and off her stride.

The right pep talk, some different people on her prep staff, she can turn it around.

Did Biden really indicate the Obama administration would be ok with a nuclear Iran?  Damn, that would have been dumb.  What's his excuse?

There is a big difference with being "ok" with something and reality.

In reality what honestly do you all believe can be done to stop other countries from developing weapons of any type short of literally taking over and controlling those countries forever.

I'd much rather have realistic expectations than fantasies in the minds of those charged with administering the nation.

After that Couric debacle..again, I have a feeling that Mccain is almost ready to suggest that Caribou Barbie head back to the tundra. If she is hurting him in the polls, and she is, it is his own fault. He took a huge gamble on the stupidity of his supporters being so easily swayed by the idiot and it is now biting him in the ass. Tough. Caveat Emptor.

Of course, if he were to replace her with Lieberman, he'd be signing his chances for the White House's death warrant. The American people would see it as the biggest flip flop possible... that he can't even make a competent choice in VP's (which is building in opinion anyway) and the ripple effect would be devestating.

The people in love with Palin would turn away from him.
His base would become demoralized at having Leiberman on the ticket.
The "Hillary Voters" for McCain (what few there are) would be lost.
Older women might wake up and realize... "What they hell were we thinking, voting for a creationist, anti-abortion, pro-100 years in Iraq bitch like this?"
McCain's Masters will not be happy at all...not at all...
