DVDs do work without the remote, unless you're female of course.
Best thing is to start another project that will please your master, like reorganising his CDs, his movies or something. When you're not looking, these things tend to give themselves up. If not, you have a nice organised alternative thingy for him to use.

Status: offline 		i've got your remote...it's working fine now by the way, and makes voices come out of the radiators....it just needed new batteries. i'll post it back....

To the OP, have you tried tracing your steps backwards?

If all else fails, try the couch?  Wherever you last saw it?  The neighbor's kids?
