More smoke and mirrors from the administration AND congress.  They have been whooping it up about the crises in the financial markets, while padding the federal budget with a 632B spending package.  Padded it is, with both the repoblicats and demoruplicans putting in their favorite bridges to nowhere.  Sure, some of the money needs to be spent, but dammit, they just assume that all of us are stupid.

I can't tell you who to vote for for president, I don't see a hell of a lot of difference in either of them, and none of the third party candidates are viable.  As former House Speaker Tip O'Niell once said, all politics is local.  Vote out all of the thieves who have been there forever.

Surprised you didn't get into one of the 435,085,686 threads on that exact subject.

Yes it is a ripoff.

I did, but don't remember which ones.  You are right, it is a ripoff, one our grandchildren can never pay off.  There must be a revolution.  Can we do it without violence??

Nope, and personally I'm hopeful that there are sufficient people enraged or near enraged that it Ensures a bit of Violence against the politicians - all of the politicians, preferably en masse, with a torch & pitchfork carrying lynch mob on the steps of congrease to hang every single last one of 'em from the rafters.  They've had it coming for longer than my lifetime  - I'd Like to see it happen Before the End of the same.

And if saying I'd like to see every Single politician in this country mowed down with an M60 winds me up with Homeland Snarkurity on my front porch - so fucking be it.  Ain't a one of 'em salvageable Except as an example to future generations of what Needs to happen to politicians on a regular basis.  (Considering how worthless that Same Congress has made our constitutional rights with the Patriot Act and PA2, that voicing an anti-government sentiment or advocating violence against the fuckers could easily be construed as "treason" - it wouldn't surprise me for men in black suits to show up... )

well.

At least we are no longer "irrationally exhuberant"

I don’t know. I’ve seen a few of those budget-minded smokescreens and they’re just not cost effective.

Yep...now we are just "irrational".

Re 700 billion "bailout". As the late Senator Everett Dirksen of Illinois pointed out in the sixties ( yagotta adjust for inflation), "A billion here and a billion there and pretty soon you are talking about real money".

peachie, I support your stand on cleaning house. Up against the wall, motherfuckers !

If Homeland Insecurity starts to stalk you, you can hide inder my bed.

Ok... now that I'm finished with cleaning up the pizza and red wine (lunch, doncha know) that just got snorted out through my nose onto the keyboard.....

6, dear, I'm gonna ask you to refrain from something that I always ask my male aquaintances not to do -

Please... Don't make me laugh while I'm Swallowing...

cjan -> RE: 700Billion Smokescreen (9/28/2008 9:19:24 AM)

Laughing while swallowing is a skill well worth aquiring. Practice, practice, practice...

Btw, peachie, I suggest you chew and swallow pizza first, then rinse and garggle with the wine. It's easier, as you have found, on the nasal passages.

hizgeorgiapeach -> RE: 700Billion Smokescreen (9/28/2008 10:50:56 AM)

Not to mention the fact that it helps cut down on the waste of a good red wine!

(CJ - trust me on this one - laughing while swallowing... Any sort of Swallowing... can be dangerous.  Especially to the person on the other end!  Thank the gods I've got little in the way of a gag reflex... )  [8D]
