Well, curiosity killed the cat! Be careful!

Maybe if you ever directly responded to a question of mine I'd consider responding genuinely to yours.

It puzzles me that anybody would still be happy about voting him back in, considering the absolute mess his administration have made of everything. First time, I can understand being fooled by a politician. But twice? It puzzles me. Oh well, I'll just draw my own conclusions.

Thank you, the BBC! I found this fascinating page full of voters' gems.

"Bush has the moral compass. Kerry does not. He changed positions depending upon audience. His late Viet Nam actions also, in my opinion, disqualified him from serving as the US President."

"I voted for George W Bush because I believe he's a man of strong convictions, beliefs and principles. I'm a native Texan and I see in President Bush the best of the Texas character."

" Bush has turned the recession into a growing economy, and is keeping us safe from terrorism. That's worth my vote any day."

"I voted for Bush because he is an honourable man who makes decisions based on principles, not polls and a man who can be taken at his word."

"I voted for Bush to usher in the complete and utter destruction of the United States. Sometimes, you just have to tear it all down and start over again. No one will destroy America faster than Bush. Go Bush!" - (An anarchist, how sweet :-)

"I voted for President Bush because we need a strong man for these trying times."

"Strong, decisive leadership are the hallmarks of the Bush presidency."

"Bush is against abortion and that is all that matters to me. That is the only issue I consider and there are a lot of Americans who feel the same way. Some people say it is ignorant to disregard the other issues, and maybe it is, but that is how I feel."

"I voted for Bush because I am Pro-Life and against gay marriage."

"I voted for President Bush most importantly because he holds strong moral convictions that do not waver. I believe America is in the middle of a culture war, perpetuated by Hollywood, the media, and elitists who are tearing down the traditional values that are so important to me and my family."

Illuminating. From where I stand, none of these people had their heads screwed on tight - but that's just me  . If they have an ounce of common sense... they should be biting their knuckles right about now.

I would have to say that not so many people voted for Bush as against Kerry.  People will come out in droves to vot against someone but not to vote for someone.  Kind of strange isn't it?

It is bizarre. What amazes me with the BBC's survey is the fact that emotions played such a large part in the choice of candidate. Why do sentiments take such a prominent place? Any idea?

I don't deny that. I make the case that emotions are overrated in our culture, and that we should use our minds when it comes to making important decisions. Emotional diarrhea is plain nasty: restraint is beautiful.

I would like to thank all you BUSH voters for keeping him in office, otherwise he could not have brought his disastrous touch abroad back home. First he wrecked a sovereign nation from without, now he might bring another to its knees from within.

His tax cuts gave us $2 Trillion in new debt. Now his domestic policy might ruin our economy for the next decade.

But at least you'll have Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, the NRA, family values, the Christian Coalition, and the Creationists to fall back on.

Keeping him those extra four years undoubtably may win him the top spot as the WORST PRESIDENT ever.

Newsflash: McCain has sided with BUSH 91% of the time.

So what do the Dems do?
They run the most leftist candidate that they can find!
No-one can snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory like Democrats!
It's a pathology with them.

That's okay, I think that there is a high probability that many of the putzs that voted Bush into office also lost ALOT of money yesterday.

Retribution.

I actually made alot of money. I think they calling "going short". But I'm not sure.

But, I'm one of those people who knows for fact that one guy couldn't have done all this by himself in 8 short years, and I paid attention for over 16 years when economic experts were saying this was going to happen.

Go back to civics class folks. Our system is based on checks and balances so no one arm of goverment can abuse their power. What that means is: if the president is at fault, the congress and judiciary are equally to blame.

While we argue amongst ourselves over democrat vs republican, conservative vs liberal, the people who are supposed to be answering to US have taken over. On both sides. Republicans and Democrats are equally to blame for this mess. Whether your party loyalty will allow you to believe it or not.

Obama took huge contributions from the criminals who caused this mess, while BUSH was the one who tried to get legislation passed that could have prevented it.

Meaning that McCain hasn't?

I also seem to remember that McCain's campaign manager actually worked for the criminals who caused this mess.

I believe sen. Lindsey "they're all a bunch of whiners" Gramm was actually one of the main people who helped to deregulate the lending industry. Remember, this is, according to him, just a "mental recession." These comments were what I consider to be the "let them eat cake" moment of the McCain campaign. And we all know what happened after that....  Actually, it's not a bad idea! If we have a continued fall in the wealth of America, perhaps there will be those ready to invite Madame Guillotine to a party in Washington.

Hmm, maybe my skills as furniture maker will come in handy in that case. Anyone needing a guillotine?

If you have followed my posts at all you would know that, not only do I blame all those in office in Washington, I also blame the American public.

Very few of us are blameless in this fiasco.

Big picture people, big picture.

Appreciate that CB; after all it was tempting to buy a house I couldn't afford, or investing in a company that did so. I only wish that, like 'Soul Piercer' I went all in on the 'short side' of those foolish enough to do so.

I don't think my vote for President Bush had anything to do with that result. Besides its Congress that sets the financial path for the Country. Remember this Iraq war is over if any of the 5 votes for funding it failed.

All those in Congress have enabled all this failure to take place while on the payroll of PAC's insuring the path was plowed by Government regulation, or deregulation.

How many of those complaining will be going to the polls in November voting these same people back in office? A 10% national approval rate, but, of course, YOUR representative is doing the job for you locally. Yup - I think all those who voted in this Congress also deserve a big - THANKS!

I prefer to blame Canada and the tooth fairy.

One can't fight back. The other doesn't exist.

What better completely unrelated source to demonize for our economic troubles than those two?

I would direct the blame to something related like Congress, but that would require me to learn all their names. As an American, I obviously can't do that.

Bush is only one word and four letters.

So 8 years wasn't enough time for Bush to implement his own policies?

Always hilarious to listen to Republican logic.  Clinton wasn't responsible for the economic success during his Presidency.  It actually was the Republican Congress who should be credited.  Now that we have an economic meltdown after Republican control of the White House and Congress for most of the last 8 years it's really not the fault of Bush or the Republicans.

Sure, I can see that.  It really is all Clinton's fault.

I dont recall saying it was all Clinton's fault.  I said that's where it started. I also said that many Americans got themselves into the mess. I find it amusing that you make ASSumptions of one's political stance so easily.
Or am I required to want freebies and handouts to be a Democrat? If so, I guess I need to turn in my registration card.
I guess I missed the fine print that says I have to agree with everything the party does to be a member.

Actually, at the time the Republican rationale was the "the Reagan tax cuts finally kicked in."

Wonder when the Bush tax cuts kick in.

... We are creatures of emotion.

Indeed we are. The powers-that-be and the media are well-aware of this fact.

Which is why most of us will invest hours and hours watching fictional TV, and the various "news" programming. It appeals to our emotions. Unfortunately, over time, it also guides our thinking. The media eventually becomes our primary source of indoctrination.
