winoverme -> What are the career opportunities and jobs in the BDSM Community? (9/30/2008 10:45:48 PM)

Since the last two years (last year in particular), i have progressively accepted that i have a strong submissive side in my personality. I now want to be an active member of this community, as i don't want to lose my time anymore, trying to figure what should i do with my life, nor do i want to lose someone else's opportunity to use my skills to serve them. I am very curious about job opportunities and careers within the BDSM world as i'm seeking a job right now. Not only do i feel that it would be a good way to enter the lifestyle, it would also help me find my rightful place in Society. Can someone give me advices or information about what could be a good start? I mean as a worker and as a submissive? What i want more than anything else is to feel appreciated for what i can do and become useful to others. I'm really tired of conventional jobs, where the boss doesn't care about you. I'd rather submit to someone who would know how to make me feel useful, even if that could mean at times to do things that would appeal to them first. Salary questions too...

Thank you very much

Perhaps you'd be interested in working for an advocacy organization, such as New England Leather Alliance.  www.nelaonline.org

There are many such groups all over the country.

Does it really have to be a job in the BDSM community?

I mean, from what you're writing, you could find a job in a night shelter or day centre working with the homeless, or a job working with the elderly, mentally handicapped, disabled, or working to fight poverty to achieve the same aims, right?

Why make such a song and dance over being submissive and into the BDSM lifestyle? This isn't exactly the armed forces or a sect of Zen Buddhism, or is it?
