Hello Alumbrado, I understand that the self-defense laws would not necessarily apply in the scenario of the OP. But treating a person wounded by an attack would not fall under the Good Samaritan laws?

The OP scenario is exactly covered by the laws on self defense, extended to defending another person. The Good Samaritan laws prevent someone from being sued later because the medical aid they provided wasn't perfect. Stepping in to put your hands on someone in order to prevent them from further hurting another person isn't 'treatment', even though it may be needed in order to render treatment. The Good Samaritan laws will not keep anyone from being charged criminally if they put their hands on somone.
