When I get too old to stop and listen to someone giving me directions, someone please put everyone out of their misery by knocking me flat! OMG I love my job but DANG, old people should NOT own computers! I am starting to feel a surge of revulsion when I see my client is in his 80's. I have a quick call in a moment or two to put in.. get this.. some website in their favorites place. Why? Because after 30 mins of trying to get him to listen to my exact directions on how, he still can't get it. Why do so many of them have to quote everything the computer has or does at the time? He says.. ok, the top bar says internet explorer, under that is file edit view favorites, ect. under that is the back, forward, ect. then the address bar.. I SWEAR I am going to pull all my hair out!! When I get to old to drive without thinking I own the road and people need to get around me, knock me flat! I need more coffee.. grrrrrrrr. Kyst

awwww, miss....trust me, I SOOOOOO feel your pain! We have several employees where I work that absolutely REFUSE to learn how to use a computer, and one guy that is just like your client. I swear, every time he tries to get onto a computer, I'm on the phone walking him through it.....the guy even called me one night asking me what his password is! Like I'd know it! He is a real sweet guy, but it's time he retired! Although, there are some younger employees that aren't all that computer literate, and for some reason, they always call me.....I've been called at home in the middle of the night with those "Can ya help me out, Michelle?" And I'm such a softie that I do.....OY! And I've told alot of my friends that if I ever get that old, to just shoot me and put me out of their misery!

Miss, I also find that telling them where to look instead of them describing the screen to me is often quicker......

Old is not the problem. Senility is. But back when I was a young whippin' snappin' youngster, we couldn't just go out and buy one new fangled toy or another. We had to hunt a critter down, be it deer, or rabbit, or whatever. Then we had to kill it, and tan our own hides. Then we had to decide on a design, and make our own patterns and cut the materials before we could assemble it into the toy we wanted. You were saying something about computers? Ahhhh yes, I remember when a single computer would take up a whole room, and all we had was dial-up access. And... there wasn't a CM or other fun websites to visit. And all there was was DOS, no Windows or nuttin. OH crap. I'm sounding like Grandma. Just shoot me now.

Michell help me out. Give me your phone number. I tell you what if this works Im going to ask all of the women on here that. Give us old people a break. I remember when we learned to write in school we had ink wells and quill pens. Now you want to throw computers at us.

I feel your pain, miss, but it's not really age that causes these kinds of problems. I just visited my 78-year-old uncle & 83-year-old aunt & they are completely computer savvy. They each have their own computer & do very well. The problem, as I see it, is that stoopid can happen at any age. [:D]
