What does everyone think about this? Both of my Senators voted yes. This is the letter I sent them this moring.

Mr Senator,
I am appalled and outraged by your vote on HR1424. Not only did the Senate bypass congresses
decision to deny the passing of the bailout but it is a violation of Article 1 Section 7 of our Constitution Sir.
You are a representative of the people, representative of the tax payer, and we the PEOPLE do not want this bailout.
We, the people, do not consent to spending $700 billion to bailout companies and individuals who acted irresponsibly.
The market will correct itself faster and better by itself.  Government intervention will cause further financial crisis.
The bail out will devalued dollar and inflation and will force taxpayers for generations to come to pay off your
irresponsible debts that this country cannot afford. By attaching the new "Bail out" bill to another bill the Senate
is trying to subvert the Constitution and usurp the power of the House of Representatives. According to the constitution
ONLY the House can introduce spending bills. The "Power of the Purse" is one of the most important powers of the House
and THIS is what the Senate is trying to bypass.  To give this up is to put the American people at risk. Not only is this
bailout package foolish and will cause MUCH more harm than good ( unless you are an incompetent banker), it represents a
shift in power AWAY from the House ( where the PEOPLE have the most voice) to the Senate ( where the Washington elite have
the most voice).  This is an arrogant act that violates what we the people want. I urge you Sir to rethink your voting
habits and remember the people who provide your paycheck and what they want.

Sincerely,
Casie

PS Perhaps this video will help you to remember how a bill is to become a law. I found it very informative as a child.

Technically you need to add you address to the top of the letter, if you edit it now it should be ok.

It was an email. It will get there faster than an actual letter.

This is a good site to send both written and email communications to any representative: http://www.congress.org/congressorg/home/

I find myself using it almost daily.

Both of my Senators are traitorous assholes. Obama, and Durbin. I wrote both of them. It matters not, they answer to who pays them, that isn't the peanuts we dish over to them, that is the promises of high paying non-jobs once they leave Congress by corporations, or bribes while in Congress, or handsome campaign donations. They don't give two flying fucks about our opinion.

Just had to look up HR 1424. Found something on it at

http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/legislative/sap/110-2/saphr1424-h.pdf

At the end :

"Finally, the Administration looks forward to working with Congress to address these concerns and pass Mental Health Parity and Genetic Nondiscrimination legislation this year."

Mental health parity ? What does that mean, that we could have crazy people in the government ?

I called and unloaded both barrels on my damn senators today. Am writing 3 letters to editor. Going to email senators and my asswipe rep everyday until they throw me in some sort of gulag. I  have had it. We pay their paychecks. They and their staffs work for us. Sadly they have forgotten that, and its time for people to remind them, on a daily basis if necessary. The op is one example of the kind of shit they get away with on a daily basis.
I think everyone needs to bookmark Mercs link and use it 4 times a day. at least.
Damn it I am mad

has nothing to do with mentally ill people being in the government, it means it is afforded the same benefits under medicare as physical illness.

Look rex, even staunch republicans who will be voting for McCain can't wait for the election because GWB is insane. I have always disliked democrats' philosophy, goals and traditional behaviour. (wow, didn't realize I just spelled that in British)  I don't like them at all. The only reason I support Obama is because I want to see where all this money has gone, as well as that other four billion they "lost". I want him to get an atty gen who makes Reno look like a fuzzy little kitten, but instead of picking on little whorehouses out in the stix, would find out where the hell our money went. McBush is hooked up with the same people as GW Cain, oops, did I mix that up again ?

Now folks, some of you have the notion that eventually we are going to be able to vote our way out of this. I ask you this. Should the insane be allowed to vote ? If not just who is going to screen people ?

There was a report by the GAO last year stating that 99% of emails received by elected officals are deleted and never read.

The best way to contact your elected officals is by phone or smail.

Have you ever noticed when you send an email to your elected ofical, you get an auto response that has nothing to do with your letter? I have stopped emailing and have begun using smail and have received actual answers to my questions, not some auto reply response.

So I would forget email and start mailing letters or calling
