Multiple.

In terms of relationships, groupings of more than two people.

Given where you are asking this, it's probably short for polyamourous. This to some means having multiple sex partners and/or to others having "loving" relationships with mulitiple people. The consent of all involved is usually implied.

Poly has the most different interpetations of any other word I know of in the lifestyle.

Polyamorous mean multiple partners, but.... that can include any following interpetations:

- Serious 24/7 type relationship where there are three or more individuals involved.
- A couple who bring others into the relationship from time to time on a part time basis.
- A couple who practice engaging in outside relationships from the primary relationship.
- A couple who play with others together or separately from the primary relationship.
- An individual who plays with multiple partners outside a primarly relationship. (It is not uncommon that one person in the relationship may play with others while the other does not.)

I don't think I left any conbinations out, but who knows. The point is.....if someone says they are Poly, ask what sort of poly lifestyle they practice before making an assumption. You will probably guess wrong and nothing good comes of that.

Well there's the individual who has simultaneous committed relationships with different people who also have their own simultaneous committed relationships with different people.

And I also play with multiple people, but that's just being a slut.

But I agree- ask what THEY mean by poly.

Poly is a name, it can either be used for a woman or a man if he is a big mafia looking type guy.
