Apparently the Norwegians have passed a LAW requiring that all large firms  must have 40% wimmen in the board room Spain of all places is going to follow suit.   The very idea of a LAW mandating such  a thing  makes me splutter in my beer.   Will the kommisars never give up ? Have I outlived my usefullness ?

The thing a prostitute is primarily paid for is to shut up.

I can see a likelihood of eerily similar positions coming to many of the affected board rooms...

Disgusting. If a woman cannot get there based upon her qualifications then she doesn't belong there.

Unfortunately it's not equality that matters anymore, it's quotas.

Sadly, sexism still exists, and many competant women are denied promotion  or even a prominent place on the board due to their gender and the age old fallacy that men are stronger. True, men are stronger, but only in arm, if tilling the fields was the job, men would win. But tilling the fields is now mostly done by machine, with any brain cell at the controls. So we are left with intellect, since when was it that women were far less intellectual than men ? What I have found about women, is that they, devoid of any need to prove their worth, make better decisions and employ more than good sense. I for one am more than happy to see a woman as a potential boss over me, women bring more than logic to the table.

Extreme socialism will not help Europe fight the coming Caliphate.

The very idea of mandating that kind of thing makes me quail. Let women get there on their merits alone. I just read Fortune Magazine's article on the 50 Most Powerful Women - all based in the US, I think - and no one MANDATED that they be there.

I worked for a boss in a large multinational pharmaceutical company that was there because she was a quota - black, female and over 50. She was, hands down, the worst boss I had ever had and you would have been hard pressed to get me to follow her to the bathroom let alone in anything meaningful. The company would have done much better to promote someone into the position that merited it, be they male or female. And there were many extraordinarily competent women that I had the pleasure to work with that would have been a much better fit for the position.

Most boards are filled with people who turn up twice a year, rubber stamp the CEO's ideas, eat a great lunch and go home with a fat paycheck. They are given no information about the company that could be useful, and they have no power to mandate things. What good is a professor of comparative religion in Pittsburgh doing as a board member of a Silicon Valley firm?

I read proxy statements and they are universally depressing. Most boards do have a mix of people on them, all of whom might as well stay home.

you're alright in my book.

whatever you do, do not look into the feminist initiative of sweden. they actually proposed a man tax which is to be levied upon all men and given to government sponsored shelters for women...

and that's not the worst of it.
