I was talking with one of my best friends fellow officers (National guard, both of them being 1LT's) the other day when he saw my new iPod.  He then tells me of one of his troopers having a playlist that he uses to get into a 'combat' headspace.  Lotsa Disturbed, Metallica, Rammstein, AC/DC and other groups intertwined, designed to race the pulse and get into the "I am the baddest mu^herf#cker here and will not hesitate to prove it" headspace.

My apologies to all if this question has been asked, but...

Does anyone have a playlist that gets you into your role's headspace?

I'm putting one together, and so far I have some Enya, Bach's Toccada and Fuge in Dminor, a little Disturbed, and still kinda sorting through all my stuff in my libraries.

Thank you all.

Nothing that projects itself to the forefront of my brain and no vocals. Vocals make me stop and think, as opposed to feel.

Pre-scene cd inclues a lot of techno and classical music. Reason behind it? The techno helps raise my energy, but the classical stuff keeps it from going too far. One song that kind of takes care of both is DJ X-ile's Pretty Rave Girl Hardcore Remix. Granted anything with a faster beat combined with something calmer will do for the same effect (for me anyways).

;-)

Actually, I do scene to that music. It has an edge. I like to walk that edge...if they're struggling with themselves to not hit me, that's even hotter.

Depends on the mood, but I typically make mixes.  The only full albums I can think of offhand are Gridlock "The Synthetic Form," "Formless," or "Trace".  A good mix between metallic crunch and ambient soundscapes.
