Someone did a great job putting this together and with sound to boot. At the very end of the video you'll hear the song 'Thunder Road' sung by the star of the movie for which it was the theme! Not uncommon, except this is the one and only song ever recorded, for publication, sung by Robert Mitchum!

Had a 56 Dodge. A 37 Dodge, My favorite was a 62 Mercury Monterey convertible. Im looking for another one now.

I learned to drive in my father's '68 Chrysler Town & Country station wagon, fully loaded. That was a sweet car to go across country in.

My muscle car was the '69 Chrysler New Yorker I had with the police interceptor engine and drive train package in it. Completely black with those large wrap-around chrome front and rear bumpers and grille... it was a large, imposing missile on the NY State Thruway.

I forget what kind of Chrysler it was, but the one I took my driver's test in had a push-button transmission!

Most of the popular american music from that era makes me want to spew.

However, the cars........awsome.

Coming from a motorhead background and having owned an antique business with my ex, I've had sooooooo many of them. Some for only a short time, others for a few years. Really, just too many to try and remember and list them all.

My favourite was a two door 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz, soft butter yellow with white leather interiour and a white soft top. She was one sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet ride. I believe that one we bought and shipped up from Texas.

The second fav would probably be the 1962 two door Chevy Impalla with all the whistles and bells. White with red leather interiour and just mint. It came from southern California. That car could just flat haul ass.

My ex's fav probably would have been the 1950 Ford pickup he so meticulously restored to like new, then totalled.

The only time that misic was any good is when it was from that era. When my daughter was in college she asked to borrow my 45's. The music was really popular with the kids there.

I am not sure but I think the Meteor was basic and introduced in Canada and the Monterey had more to it, more options...motors etc. and introduced here in the US.

I had a 48 Pontiac straight-8 and a 54 Dodge Coronet 243 HEMI, (both slow as xmas) a 57 Chevy 283 Power Pack I wish I still had of course. I think they were all pretty much used up before I got them except the Chevy which I rebuilt (motor) and added a Duntov FI cam. Turned that little Rochester 4 bbl. carb and powerglide into a turd...too much cam.

This does strike a note but goes way back for me. I like the cars AND the music. The 50's & 60's WERE Americas hey day, an entire culture...never to be seen again.

I lived in Detroit at the time and I bought that used Mercury for my girl. Detroit sits on the Canadian border so that may very well explain my confusion as I was exposed to both models. Thanks for the info.

I learned to drive in a 1948 Plymouth with 3 on the column. I had so many great cars from that era, but I think my all-time fave was Cosmo D. Cadillac. It was a 59 Sedan De Ville & so long that when the front seat was pushed all the way back, I could slouch in the back seat, stretch my legs all the way out & never touch the front seat & I'm kinda tall! Then there was the Jaguar sedan which I think was also a 59. It had a slide lever on the dash which one used to change the gears. Don't get me started on cars. I have other things I need to do today.

Last pushbutton Chrysler was '65, first was... I want to say 55, but I'm not certain without getting my book. Could be a Saratoga, Windsor, Newport, 300, or New Yorker, under the actual Chrysler nameplate.

Nowadays, I imagine a lot of driving instructors wouldn't even know what they were looking at if you sat them in a pushbutton car...
