Status: offline 		Firstly, if you are in love with 'winky wink' Sarah, you might not want to go any further with my post here.  She drives me nuts and have been finding the best way to deal with my shock and horror at her endless inanity is to try to find the humor in it (trust me, it's not as easy as I initially imagined it would be).

Any way....with the weird rambling about the powers of the Vice President stream-of-consciousness 'answer' she was delivering last night...something was niggling at my mind... it reminded me of something.  Then I was thinking of that shockingly bad interview with Couric, and it hit me... Miss South Carolina! That semi dazed, "Oh God, don't let them see me shitting my pants... lips don't fail me now...if I just keep talking and saying really smart sounding words here and there, they will never know... oh yeah, and don't forget to smile smile smile" look on both their faces... the lameness of both pageant gals answers....it is evolution!

Check these clips out and see if you laughed like I did...if you need the laugh!

Status: offline 		Nope, I don't see any similarities.  But then again, I watched the debate objectively.  It could be you had a preconceived prejudice towards Palin and immediately applied this ridiculous comparison.

ive never lost....and i would have won miss usa...but they found out im canadian. so i couldnt compete.

Status: offline 		I cant wait till I have grandkids. We have this tradition of the "Glamorous Grandma Competition" over here and I reckon it would be an absolute hoot for me to enter and to win!

Mind you, what with the UK having the highest rate of underage pregnancies in the western world, I'll have my work cut out competing with 30 year old grandmas - although I will be able to speak coherently and meaningfully if required to do so.

One thing I've noticed about her is that she speaks like she doesn't read, a fact born out by the Katie Couric interviews.

I noticed the way she says “thank you” when she is being introduced, as if she is still in a pageant, and the non-answer answers.
 
There’s something that is bothering me more though; I feel as though Pink Floyd’s “Mother” should be playing in the background when she speaks.

Status: offline 		For the record, I've never voted for a Republican Presidential candidate, and until a few years ago, was literally a card-carrying Democrat.  I've participated in formal debates since 6th grade, and graduated from a university with a Bachelor's degree in Speech Communications.  As such, I watched the debates with a pure debate-enthusiast's objectivity.

That said, I think Sarah Palin did very well, considering she went toe-to-toe with arguably the best debater from the recent Democratic Primaries.  She stumbled once or twice, but made up for it by stylistically being more interesting (less droll) than her opponent and substantively matching her opponent's arguments point-for-point.

On a side note, I find it INTERESTING that Sarah Palin has elicited such a hateful, spiteful, derogatory reaction when she seems to stand for what we need the most in government: a person with a track record of cleaning up the government, even if it means taking down members of her own political party.  Then again, perhaps this is the reason why her opponents are so desperately trying to take her down.

I sure do, Jen.  Too many, in fact.  Ya know, I get so sick of the endless rambling and fighting around these boards, on TV and everywhere about Dems and Republicans and blah, blah, snore.  The bottom line here is that this woman may actually become vice president and she can't fuckin' name ANY Supreme Court case/decision other than Roe V. Wade.  Not one.  Now that's sad and pathetic, period.  I don't care who ya are.

I don't judge someone by their political party affiliation.  I judge them by the content of their own character and the knowledge and intelligence they demonstrate.  I've talked with strangers on the bus who know more about US Supreme Court decisions than this dumb bunny.  It's scary as hell to me that otherwise intelligent individuals actually give her their support.  Can't they see how ignorant she truly, truly is?    The horror..................luci
