I just hope he was convicted for the evidence in this trial rather than the evidence in the other one.

Sounds pretty cut and dried. He doesn't even bother denying that he burst into a man's hotel room and held him at gunpoint - his whole defense is that he figured he had a good reason for it. Doesn't get much more open and shut than that.

Raechard -> RE: O.J. Found Guilty in Robbery Trial (10/4/2008 9:01:17 AM)

Yeah I've not really been following the trial in truth, sounds like you are right if that's the case.

LOL The Juice won't be loose for a long time... I hope the judge remembers the 2 murders he got away with & sentences him accordingly!!!

i just read that Simpsons and Stewarts lawyers are planning an appeal based in part on the fact that there were no African Americans on the jury.

WTF???? The defense lawyers approve the jurors before they are seated.

No, this is terrible!

If OJ's in jail, how will he be able to find the REAL murderers?!

Someone made a great post above....this was in his plans all along.

He's looked everywhere for over a decade (and he's completely searched the golf course near his place in Florida now over 500 times)...he'd never have been before, allowed to go inside an actual prison....he believes the killer was in prison all along...and by gawwwd....he's about to find the dude.

My god, OJ is actually a genius! Give it a month, and he'll find the real killer was in prison all along! OJ'll finally be in the clear, and he'll get back to his movie career. He'll probably start with the semi-autobiographical biopic "The Pursuit of Happyness 2: The Pursuit!"

After that, it's on to television, he'll have a kid-friendly series on CBS where he teams up with the Jonas Brothers and solves previously unsolved crimes!

Well he's less rich and famous now, therefore more black lol.

Right... that was the reason.

I suppose it's boorish of me, but I honestly hope he ends up as someone's bitch for awhile, then gets shanked by some guy who doesn't like his looks, and wants to be in the history books by being the "killer of that O.J. guy." If there's any justice in the world, the guy who does it will slit his throat exactly the same way he did his wife and her lover/friend.

That is my real hope.[>:]

I read that the jury pool consisted of 500 persons.  How many blacks were in the jury pool?  Until we know how many blacks were in the jury pool and/or if the prosecution purposely precluded blacks from being on the jury, the "jury" is still out so to speak.  However, the co defendant should be entitled to a retrial.  The co defendant was given a lifejacket but then locked in the engine room of the Titanic.

Lockit -> RE: O.J. Found Guilty in Robbery Trial (10/4/2008 6:03:55 PM)

From what I remember, the stuff he was trying to get back should have belonged to the Goldman's.  Somehow the guy in the motel room got ahold of it all through oj and him trying to hide the stuff from the Goldman's.  If that is the case, he wasn't stealing his own stuff back... he was stealing what he tried to hide, once again trying to get around justice.  I can't wait to hear the sentence...

I hope somebody bigger, makes him bubba's bitch boy... That I would pay to see...

Ya'll should have watched the first trial.

I was self employed, in my home at the time of the first trial and watched every minute of the televised trial and the evidence presented, like it or not, said OJ did not kill his ex wife or her boy friend. He probably knew, or even hired, who did kill them, but that was not the charge against him.

This time, he is found guilty, because the evidence confirms the charge.

kdsub -> RE: O.J. Found Guilty in Robbery Trial (10/6/2008 1:09:37 PM)

I wonder what the African American community thinks of OJ now. Do they think he is just being hounded because he is black and beat the "MAN" in the past... or are they relieved that he will no longer be a symbol of a black murder gone free?

Sometimes a happening serves a good purpose  even when the happening itself is evil. That was the case with OJ years ago. The trial was not about OJ but all the black men that had not received fair treatment in our system. When he was acquitted it was a victory over past injustices. It gave many African Americans  hope that justice may be for all even if black.

After the trial I think deep down most African Americans thought he was guilty..but that wasn't the point in the victory. I'll bet they wished he would just shut up... realize how lucky he was ...and fade away. They felt sorry for the victims and their families and maybe felt a little guilt in OJ's release. But also felt it was about time a Black man won after many years of unfair treatment.

Now maybe with OJ finally getting  part of what he deserved years ago there will be a feeling of justice for both whites and blacks.

Actually, that's NOT true.

Attorneys (defense attorneys and prosecutors) can only challenge perspective jurors for cause, and additionally they have a certain, very limited number of "no-cause" challenges (called "peremptory challenges").

They do not APPROVE the jurors.

If they did, there would never be a black defendant tried before an all-white jury.

I doubt that the African-American community, as a whole, thinks only one particular thing.

I am sure that there are plenty of African-Americans (myself among them) who think that this guilty verdict is inextricably linked to the prior not-guilty verdict.  Which makes this verdict, in some way, a kind of "payback" for the not-guilty verdict.

I am also sure that the are plenty of African-Americans (myself among them) who wish that OJ had the sense he was born with and lived a nice, quiet, law-abiding life, knowing that he was a marked man should he ever get charged with another criminal act again.

A "symbol of a black murder[er] gone free"?

I doubt that is what he is to African-Americans.  I have no doubt that's what he is to whites.

When you think of Phil Spector, do you think of a white murderer gone free?  You probably think of rock-and-roll.  Funny how that works...

We'll see what the sentence is.  I think that will have a lot to do with what African-Americans think of the whole mess.

As a whole ...meaning the majority of thoughts and feelings…. the African American community WILL have one predominate opinion...I have no idea what that will be. We will soon find out.
