LadyLupineNYC -> RE: Whom will you vote for? (10/4/2008 5:33:31 PM)

I will say why I normally don't vote in national elections (though I will this year).  Since I have been able to vote I lived in NY and for one (election year) in IL.  In all those years the state I lived in voted for the candidate that I would have leaned towards anyway.  But more than that, in NYS, if you don't register for a party you can’t vote in the primaries.  I refuse to ‘pick’ a party as I am generally historically centrist.  I additionally have had a long dislike of the Electoral College system (only confirmed by the 2000 election).  This, combined with the lack of meaning my vote would have had in national elections meant that I refused to.  I am voting this year, even though who I am voting will ‘win’ my state without it in honor of the feelings about McCain/Pain my boy has re veteran’s issues and my own deep dislike of the positions regarding social policies of the GOP ticket and the cynical way the GOP has operated in the election and during the Bush administration.  I am voting to register my intense displeasure.

I will be voting for a candidate other than John McCain or Barrack Obama. Neither of these two men come close to my philosophies on leading the executive branch the US Federal government. If my candidate is not printed on my ballot I intend to use the write-in line.

My vote is important to me and I will not waste it by either not voting for the office or compromising my position and beliefs for the sake of keeping one or the other of the two main parties in power. As an independent voter, standing way far back from the rhetoric being cast out by both, I can easily see how both parties act within the scope of one frame. From where I stand, there's little to differentiate them based upon their past and present actions.

I should also note that I've never voted for any Republican or Democrat presidential candidate since my first national election in 1980 and it doesn't appear that I'll be changing that with this election.

subslavela -> RE: Whom will you vote for? (10/4/2008 5:52:29 PM)

I'm voting for McCain-Palin for i believe this is the team that is qualified, prepared, and has the right judgement to lead our country in these difficult and challenging times. We do not need a socialist like Obama to tax us into economic oblivian, nor do we need his domestic Terrorist friends like William Ayers, and his American and White Hating former Pastor, polluting his judgement like it has for over 20 years~.
Obama is not prepared, nor is he qualified to be the leader the United States! He simply does not have what it takes. He lacks judgement, proven by his associations, his lack of ability to lead, by the fact he has not passed One single piece of legislation that would bring any sort of the "change" he is talking about on the campaign trail. NOR has defied his own party, ever, to lead in an issue that states his principles over  his party. John Mc Cain has done this for over 30 years!
Ask yourself, what has Obama done? If you were hiring someone for a job that is as difficult as this one and it required and extensive resume including years of experience, judgement, character (you are defined by who you associate yourself with), and your ability to lead, Who would be the one you hire?

But, michael, you keep coming back to post you're not going to post anymore.  If you're not going to put yourself out there to be flamed, which is usually what happens with most of your comments, then just sit back and watch the thread.

Obama for a variety of reasons; guarentee of cultural change and the world view our fellow Earthlings have of the United States, education, intellect, stability in personal life, fatherhood, youthfulness, philosophies, electability, community service, likeability, authorship, cerebral thoughtfulness, flexibility, stamina and more.

Also I don't want to unduly influence the American voters by saying Hans Moleman is the best candidate for the job. [8|]

Michael has stated his views on voting in the past.  I'm sure if you search "vote" under his screen name you'll discover his views.

DarkSteven -> RE: Whom will you vote for? (10/5/2008 7:16:45 AM)

I'm pretty much in agreement with LadyLupine.  I consider the Bush administration to be a bunch of criminals that have devoted eight years to promoting their own agenda over the good of the people and later, their wishes.  I'm voting Democratic for Obama and WOULD have voted straight Dem ticket as a protest.

However, I will not vote for any incumbent who voted for the bailout bill.  I consider that the worst piece of legislation ever crafted.
