Harry

do you think that raising taxes/killing the tax cuts will make it worse?

Sanity -> RE: The End of Prosperity/Fasten your seats, its going to be a bumpy ride (10/6/2008 9:05:30 PM)

Obama cutting off all domestic energy exploration, except for the tiny trickle of wind and solar... maybe that will help.

Yeah... ten dollar gas and electric rates at ten times what they are now

That will pull us out of any depression   [8|]

My point is THIS:

IF the President and his fine team of advisors KNEW how BAD our economic

situation WAS for almost 8 years, why did he not tell the American people?
Up until last month everything was fine, then overnight we are in a crisis?

Didn't you just tell me he knew?

Either he knew and is a liar or he had not a fucking clue.

Which one are you going to pick, Sanity?
Bush 2007: Economy is great!, Bush 2008: Economy is about to implode! | Crooks and Liars

I say, he had not a damn clue.
Clean up your story dude.

Also, here is a clue:  Obama nor McCain are the current President.
Our current President for the past 8 years is named, President George Bush.

STOP blaming Obama, dude, he ain't the President!
YET!

What we've got is a crisis of confidence - so what do you expect the President to say, "Everybody panic!"?

I don't recall Barack Obama claiming we were in the middle of a great depression two weeks ago... and how would it have helped or made a difference if any of them had. What's your point?

Well Sanity, according to Bush and McCain, the economy was FINE and
great up until a few weeks ago.
Sorry, your statements are not computing.

that is what i am saying the blame game should be over!  it is time to find a way to get us out of this mess sooner than later!

Sanity -> RE: The End of Prosperity/Fasten your seats, its going to be a bumpy ride (10/6/2008 9:10:06 PM)

The President gave speeches, he proposed legislation, but the Democrats fought him tooth and nail - it's all on the record.

What more was he supposed to do?

Does it just make you feel better to blame him? Because that's what it's sounding like.

Mz,
what really happen? the president and many others politicians both dems & reps in DC sounded off in 2001, 2003, 2005 & again in 2006 that there was some problems with Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac, but regulating the 2 government entities was voted down.  then by 2007 they saw it coming and did a bunch of shit trying to prevent what we have been watching for the past few weeks.  the damn bailout was done too damn late!  now we are fucked!

snappykappy -> RE: The End of Prosperity/Fasten your seats, its going to be a bumpy ride (10/6/2008 9:12:12 PM)

what i see is if there are many jobs for a long time those with the bachelors and masters and doctor degrees will either b working at the mickey d's or the whopper king or dare i say enlist in the military

heck they are even giving 40,000 sign up bonus to go in

MzMia -> RE: The End of Prosperity/Fasten your seats, its going to be a bumpy ride (10/6/2008 9:13:05 PM)

lol, Sanity.
The situation is speaking for itself.
I think the President should have shielded the poor stupid Americans for 7 years
about the severity of the economy.
He should have been on t.v. saying everything was great for years!
Then overnight he needs to come on t.v. and tell us we are in crisis and we need to

pony up 700 billion real quick to help fix things.

The people will decide in about 4 weeks how they feel about 8
years of FAILED Bush/McCain policies.

snappykappy -> RE: The End of Prosperity/Fasten your seats, its going to be a bumpy ride (10/6/2008 9:14:56 PM)

it is called executive or presidential privalege for the jerk not to let the public know

so now we all know or have known all along who was pivot man in the circle jerk

bestbabync -> RE: The End of Prosperity/Fasten your seats, its going to be a bumpy ride (10/6/2008 9:15:59 PM)

Mz

it is not that cut & dried.  people have to also understand that the next president has to be willing to tackle this recession/depression by cutting ALL federal spending.  obama has yet to say he will do that if he is elected!

Sanity -> RE: The End of Prosperity/Fasten your seats, its going to be a bumpy ride (10/6/2008 9:16:22 PM)

You honestly believe that the President is responsible for everything that happens?

There are also state and federal courts and legislatures Mia. And like it or not, Barack Obama as a Socialist lawyer fought for and succeeded in forcing lenders to make high-risk loans to the very poor in the guise of 'civil rights'.

Yeah, it is Obama's fault, it falls right on his head.

MzMia -> RE: The End of Prosperity/Fasten your seats, its going to be a bumpy ride (10/6/2008 9:18:20 PM)

lol, okay Sanity, Obama is responsible for our economic mess these days.
I also think Obama is responsible for global warming.

Sanity -> RE: The End of Prosperity/Fasten your seats, its going to be a bumpy ride (10/6/2008 9:18:25 PM)

The President SOUNDED the warning though...

While Barney Frank and Chris Dodd said Freddy Mac and Fanny Mae were doing FINE... just fine.

MzMia,
what happen to real discussion?  i keep saying this.  the time for the blame game is over.  it is time for us to scramble and vote for the candidate that will lessen the blow (if that is possible) of what we are about to face!

One reason it IS important to play a little blame game is because
the next President is going to inherit an economic nightmare.
We need to understand how bad it is, and realize it will take YEARS to get
us back on track, REGARDLESS who is elected.
Many have no real idea how bad shit is, and it will not be fixed overnight or any time SOON.
I don't care who is elected, it is going to take a long time to turn this ship around.
Right now, we are voting for the best person to help us dig out of the economic HOLE
the USA is falling into.

Sanity -> RE: The End of Prosperity/Fasten your seats, its going to be a bumpy ride (10/6/2008 9:29:24 PM)

Sometimes you have to call BS bestbaby

It would be a huge mistake to elect the people (the Democrats) who caused this mess into more power, and that's precisely what we're on the verge of doing. President Bush tried hard to stop this meltdown years ago only to be shouted down by the very party who now tries to blame him for their mess...

MzMia,
that is right!!!  the hole will be easier to dig out of if uncle sam is not shoveling dirt in on us by taking 30% of our paychecks!
the federal budget and the politicians are getting rich off of our backs.
wouldn't u love to keep 90% of that money taken from ur paycheck?  don't u believe that if businesses and companies are getting the same deal, keeping 90% of their profits that will produce more jobs?
