JumpingJax -> I got blocked - How often do you block others? (10/6/2008 9:10:07 PM)

Just curious about this. I just attempted to email someone fairly local to me whos profile I had found. Turns out that user had blocked me so the email wasn't sent.

Whatever - although I'm not crazy about being blocked, the fact that I have never had or attempted any communication with this person in the past tells me it wasn't something I said or did.

So I'm curious - why would someone block a profile? Is it possible that blocking a user keeps the person from showing up in searchs in the future. Is it possible that the women is so sick of getting emails from people she just blocks all now? There isn't a feature to block all is there? Also since she is local, I'm sure I've viewed her profile multiple times, but again never contacted her - is it possible that blocking me kept her from getting notice that I viewed her profile?

Of course this changes nothing, and really means nothing. I'm obviously not what she is looking for and I'm fine with that. That is the way it works right. The only reason I think I'm a little um... wondering is my profile has been around a year and a half but took a major change a few weeks ago. A change that basically made for a totally different profile with different desires. Be nice if I knew when I was blocked. But since I'm blocked well doesn't matter again :)

ok so my question besides the several above if there is some logical answer.... What does it take to get you to block someone? How often do you find yourself forced or choose to use the features? I've emailed several on here so I don't assume blocking is a common practice - but I'm interested in finding out how often it is use.

i've only blocked 3-4. One because he had nothing but negative things to say. The rest because they've sent inquiring emails - on at least 3 occasions. After the initial, "thanks but i don't think it'd work out," i get a lil annoyed when i keep getting the same exact emails over and over. Even after the second, i simply let them know i've already said no thanks. When the third same exact email shows up, i send a, "thanks again but we've been over this," and block.

I rarely block, generally only when someone has been a real jack ass.

Lynnxz -> RE: I got blocked - How often do you block others? (10/6/2008 9:17:13 PM)

I block "Fatty!" comments, people who address me as girl, and guys who keep sending the same form letter over and over.

yourMissTress -> RE: I got blocked - How often do you block others? (10/6/2008 9:18:13 PM)

How do you know you were blocked?

Ok, well, I block everyone that sends me a first time message that is obviously a form letter, hasn't bothered to read my profile, sends me one line or one word emails, addresses me as something close to "goddessonhighsupremeruleroftheuniverse", tells me that they can't wait for me to assfuck them, a fantasy play session, an email describing the ways in which they would make me their sub, the "you are only dominant/bi/not mine because" or anything else that is ridiculous or filled with jealousy and anger.

I used to have my mail controls set so that I would not receive emails from those outside of my search parameters, but then all the mail that I got from regular posters went to my bulk folder, so I just have a little more to sort through now.

OneMoreWaste -> RE: I got blocked - How often do you block others? (10/6/2008 9:21:16 PM)

I've been blocked by far more people than I've blocked.

In bitter misantrhope terms, that's a win! [:)]

faerytattoodgirl -> RE: I got blocked - How often do you block others? (10/6/2008 9:23:03 PM)

many are blocked...most were from nigeria, egypt..etc  they send msgs that are spam or wanna marry me right away...and such.. then i get one or two word emails that ask me of some fetish or say something like "breeding?" they get instant block.  blank profiles = block.  people that dont read my profile and call me cunt and other names = block.  form letters=block.

too many play games here....why waste time with them?  often i get emails from a user with multiple accounts sending the same email...thats a block.

i could play hollywood squares with the people on block and win a million times!

First lynnxz what the heck are "Fatty" comments. I viewed your profile, don't think you and the word fat belong any where near the same email.

YourMissTress: I knew I was blocked because my email to her was rejected said user blocked me. Was a simple email asking if she felt their might be value in hooking up. I made it clear I wasn't looking for one night stands but figured as we lived very close even a friendship with others in the lifestyle might be nice. Although regardless doesn't matter why I emailed her - as since she never got it, just confused why she would have blocked me.

CuddlyParrotGirl: I don't know if I was freaked out - but definitly bothered enough to start this thread. I really have had NO contact with this person.

I have never blocked anyone - granted I don't get very many emails. I know some of you women (based on the "quit emailing me statements" that I read in profile sometimes get slammed with ungodly amounts of mail. The few emails I've gotten from obvious players or scammers (got a nigeria one) the other day - just get deleted and I never hear from them a second time.

Maybe it's possible she read something I wrote here on this thread. For being so new here, I know I've managed to stir up the pot a little bit. I've tried to pull back my reigns a little and be a little less well whatever I have been (yeah I know the words no need repeating them :) )

SlayerZ -> RE: I got blocked - How often do you block others? (10/6/2008 9:45:29 PM)

lol

Well, I've never received a PM from anyone in my entire tenure on CollarMe. So, I'd have to say; no.

I doubt very much that anyone has ever blocked me, as on the odd occasion I've actually gone to the trouble of sending a message to someone, I've always tried to be as genuine and as eloquent as I could possibly be. I mean, if you're going to contact someone what's the point of being an ass just for the sake of being an ass?

NormalOutside -> RE: I got blocked - How often do you block others? (10/6/2008 9:48:53 PM)

You weren't blocked - your email was filtered from getting to the recipient's inbox because they had mail filters set up.  The system returns the mail as "blocked" but it wasn't anything personal.

Unfortunately, there are those who do not share the same sentiment.

Yeah. I'm awfully glad that I'm not a female sub (No idea if Dommes receive tons of messages) I mean, to wade through all of the messages that they must receive on a daily basis, it must be a royal pain in the ass.. and then there's the not-so-nice ones which must be equally annoying. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if female subs just do mass clear-outs of their inbox without even reading the messages. At least that would explain why I've never recieved a response.. or maybe It's my dodgy chat up lines... Nah! My chat up lines are cool!

Disclaimer: I don't use chat-up lines. : p

Ah that might explain it - Have my profile set to couple, easy reason that a filter might stop it. Or whatever - not tall enough - too old etc. But not "blocked" as in I did something to offend the person I've never met or spoke to before. :) Much more sense. Thank You.

Still figured this would make for interesting conversation :)

CalifChick -> RE: I got blocked - How often do you block others? (10/6/2008 10:10:12 PM)

Not unless they changed the software recently.  If they filter you out, your message goes to their bulk folder and you never know.  I've been blocked by a couple of people that I'm aware of... psychotic bipolars off their meds like to send nasty messages and then block you so you can't reply.  Thankfully I don't get those too often.

Some people block those that repeatedly view their profile but never say a word, as it can be a bit creepy for some people.  That means they won't see you on "who's viewing me".

If people do this, then that is probably what got me. I always look at people's profiles without mailing them.

For the first year I was on here all I ever did was troll the profiles. I wasn't in a place in my life where I could do anything so emailing someone was pointless. A couple months ago I started making some change and I made contact with a few people as friends only. But still wasn't in a position for anything real so I still trolled a lot. A few weeks ago things got to a place where I was finally comfortable taking things more serious. I changed my profile from single to a couple and put something of real value in it.

I still troll profiles a lot and I'm sure with this specific women who blocked me, I've viewed her profile a hundred times in the past. I troll profiles now because although I'm "looking", I'm not really. I'd like to go poly some day but that is a big commitment and not one I think I could do right now, (house is to damm small to add more people anyway), so I am taking it really slow - I have no interest in something happeining tommorow - rather just make friends with people who "might" be a fit one day. So for that reason I've tried to be pretty selective about who I email.

Also if you are active on the forums that is another reason why I might be viewing your profile, again and again. I always turn back to the profiles when I'm trying to identify with a poster - or heck just curious. Over time I'll do it less once I get to know everyone.

lol

Awww, thanks! [:)]

My plan totally worked! : p  I should really use my powers for good, instead of bad. Do you think taking over the world and becoming the global overlord would be considered good? [;)]

CalifChick -> RE: I got blocked - How often do you block others? (10/6/2008 10:49:10 PM)

SZ, you may not be a received-message-virgin anymore, but one message does hardly an evil overlord make.  All overlords ARE evil, right?
