Atheism and agnosticism are not religions, FYI. So if you wanted to include them the question should have been worded differently. Maybe just: "What are you?"

I don't 'follow' a religion but practise my own interpretation of one.

scifi1133 -> RE: What religion do you follow? (10/8/2008 5:27:10 AM)

Quite happily agnostic.

HotFaerieMama -> RE: What religion do you follow? (10/8/2008 8:21:47 AM)

i picked other but that's because i have no religion.. whatsoever.. never have.. granted i've read about several of them i've just not been able to follow one. and there's just some things i can't believe in just because the mass majority says its true.

KonDomme -> RE: What religion do you follow? (10/8/2008 1:13:34 PM)

Jehovah's Witness.

MtGames -> RE: What religion do you follow? (10/8/2008 11:22:46 PM)

Agnostic with Atheistic tendencies.
I don't know if god or gods exist, but I find it unlikely.

i was raised Christian, but i've been curious about other's beliefs for awhile, too.  i don't consider myself religious, per se.  More spiritual.

MadameMarque -> RE: What ARE you? (10/9/2008 3:36:06 AM)

"What ARE you?"  Well, I thought it was going to be a much more interesting question than that (to what spiritual path do you ascribe?).  Although I wasn't sure how I was going to answer it.

And regarding the demonizing of the word, "religion":
I get why people are seeking to distinguish between their spiritual pursuit, and that which the word "religion" represents for them, and I know how to conform my language.

Only, I get a little tired of walking around the word carefully.  Referring to a certain cosmology does have its purpose.  Identifying it by words (Hindu, Buddhist, Qabalistic, Thelemic, etc), and tapping into the wellspring of a practice that may have been developed over the course of centuries does have its benefit.

When you use the word (religion), everyone still knows what you mean.

They are suitable answers to the question, "what are your religious beliefs or affiliations?"  They are what you do or do not believe, about religion.

~FR~

Vehemently anti-organized religion.  However, I attend a UU church in order to facilitate the education of my wee sprites and to socialize with other progressive activists.  Oddly, it works.

faerytattoodgirl -> RE: What ARE you? (10/9/2008 9:28:28 AM)

pridedenied -> RE: What ARE you? (10/9/2008 12:35:35 PM)

ok i'm changing the question... again.

MadameMarque -> RE: What ARE you? (10/10/2008 5:25:17 AM)

pridedenied, I came back to this late.  Thanks for the nod, with your question!  Actually, I meant that it would be quite a question if it were nothing to do with religion or spirituality at all, but just, "What are you?"  Not sure how to answer, though.
