I am redoing my bedroom and as part of it I am building a new bed. The problem is that I have decided that I want a low to the ground platform bed with a solid headboard (not the best description but think modern) and this leaves me without an idea for easy restraint attachments. My old bed was metal bars so attachments where easy.

Discretion is a must as when my parents visit I give them my room and take the couch.

So, any ideas for attaching stuff to the bed without it looking like a bondage attachment and without breaking up the solid appearance of the bed?

If you have access to the underside you could place the anchor points underneath out of sight. Another option might be to look at your local hardware store for fixtures that rotate to reveal anchor points but otherwise could be seen as simply decorative ornamentations.

If you are attaching bondage points onto a wooden platform bed you can hide bondage points on a bed by using rings that are attached underneath the mattress on each of the four corners, Ive used standard 2 or 3 inch hog rings and screwed them down with loops made for holding electrical channel. The rings lay down pretty flat when not in use and the only time you see them is when you are changing the sheets or reaching under the corner of the mattress to attach a rope or clips. They also make a leather web harness that has D-rings attached to the ends that lays between the mattress and the box spring that is easily removable. It has a grid shape like a tic tac toe grid with D-rings on all 8 ends.

Feel free to send me a note on the other side if you have any other questions about these setups.

If you drill a hole all the way through the headboard in each corner, countersunk, and insert a threaded anchor (I'm drawing a blank, I think that's the term for the part I'm thinking of... a sleeve that stays in place and has internal threads so you can insert and removed threaded bolts without doing structural damage to the wood), you can use an eyebolt for bondage attachments and then when you need to go vanilla for guests, take out the eyebolt and put in a regular hex-head bolt, then put on these decorative covers:  http://www.boltdepot.com/chrome-bolt-covers.aspx

One of the Doms in my area contacted the local leatherworking couple for a solution to this very problem. They basically made a custom leather strap harness that goes around the boxspring of the bed, with all kinds of D-rings. To hide it...simply put a bed skirt over it. It might not be the cheapest solution, but from all accounts it's very effective and gives a lot of flexibility with bondage. Plus you don't have to drill holes in your bed.

You seriously think a MOTHER would not discover a leather harness-type thing complete with metal d-rings, hidden just by a bedskirt?  Particularly when that mother is going to sleep in that bed?????

I'm a mother.  I would find it in a heartbeat.  We have radar.  [:)]

You could look in a marine supple store for recessed hatch rings. They are basically a ring that is enclosed in a metal cup which get recessed into the wood ,so the ring doesn't protrude for someone to trip on. They are mainly used on Deck hatches.

And if you have recessed toe kick , you could mount them up underneath. or you could mount them in the sides, and just have a decorative item on 1 screw over it so the item swings to the side to expose the ring.

I have a set of regular boat cleats, the ones you wrap the rope in a figure 8 around, mounted under the toe kick of my water bed frame. you cant see them unless you get on your hands and knees .
