      Palin account hacker indicted

Up to five years, and a potential $250,000 fine for this Carrot Top-looking punk.  No sympathy from me.

The article says daddy is a Democrat lawmaker, who knew nothing about it...

I'm really curious if this fine young idiot actually thought it would be okay.  Just a funny joke...

My sympathy for him is limited but not non-existent. Most likely this is a punk who arrogantly thought he could get away with it and that he was justified since he was the good guy in the great ideological left/right clash. Anybody can have such arrogance but it tends to come more naturally to youth. a crime is a crime, however, and he should do some time.  A year to eighteen months should do it, I think.

As for dad, if there is no evidence that he put his son up to it then we have to give him the benefit of the doubt.

You know, I was unaware that hacking a free email account was a crime.  I've had yahoo accounts hacked, and I know a friend that called the police after her's got hacked.  The cops told her that it was a free account and there was nothing they could do.  It really was news to me that this was a crime.  The little dumbass should have known better.  VP candidates are protected by the Secret Service.

If he had hacked into Joe Blogg's computer no one wiould have bothered looking for the hacker but when you mess with a senior politicians, you might as well be in China as the west, they're going to get you.

Though fives years is better than a bullet in the back of the head.

Like the Brit who is being extradicted to the US for breaking into the Pentagon computer. To me, this bloke should be protected, they are exposing the powers that be for what they are, bungling and the inadequate nature of computers and computer security. Coz, if he can do it, the Chinese, N. Koreans and anyone else can do it.

To my fellow Brits. If this story was the other way round and an American hacked into a British defence computer, Britain wouldn't have power to extradict the person responsible. When did Britain become the 51st state?

MC I have said this before. We are the 49th state. The coat tail state.
It happened about 1946. Nobody really noticed so I cant be certain.

We dont pay taxes.....yet.

Sending a weakling like that to prison is tantamount to using rape as a punishment. The poor bugger will end up with an ass like a walk in fridge.
I'd rather see him picking up litter, prison should only be for the violent. Any criminal who is has not been convicted of a crime of violence can be rehabilitated.
He should be put on a network of computer smart arses who can help people with computer problems, god knows there's little enough help.

I doubt he will get time in a serious prison.  I imagine he'll get probation.  At the worst, he'll spend less than a year in a minimum security facility.  What he did was just stupid; he should have known better.  I don't think we should throw the book at him.  I'm sure he's had the ever living shit scared out of him.  But we can't allow people to invade the privacy of others.  Anyone whose been the victim of an identity theft knows this isn't just a harmless prank.

I'm surprised she had an email account. I didn't know she could read.

Why is he guilty in the eyes of everyone.  Where are all the Palin supporters who say she is not guilty until proven guilty for troopergate, but it's ok to hang this dumbass before he goes to trail.

Why is she using a yahoo account for government business in the first place?  Seems she got some good advice from higher ups in the GOP.  It is very hard to have the courts open up records from "public" emails, just look at Rove, and everybody else who used them.

What a waste of public money, and all that for a little revenge trip. Unlike you, I don't think people who committed non-violent 'crimes' (I use the word lightly) should do jail time - especially if it's their first offence. It's quite pathetic.

So Ken Lay should have got a pass for his "non violent" crime?

They should Mitnick this guy and call it a day.

You're right. In fact, they should hang him. Violating a Yahoo account, how dare he? (Nobody was prosecuted for violating mine, but hey, I don't have tons of public records to hide.)

Sounds like the police involved in your friend's case were either lazy or ignorant, or some combination of both.
