Good morning, all. I have occasion to scene once in a while with a Dom who, like me, is pretty new to the lifestyle. We're contemplating trying a bit of bondage. My question for those of you experienced in this... when the sub is bound and gagged and can't voice her safeword, what is a good alternative?? I've heard that she should hold something in her hand that can be dropped in lieu of a safeword... but i worry that may not necessarily work if i'm facing away from him, as usual, while we play. He may not necessarily be able to see if i drop it, at least not right away. So.... i'd love to hear some alternatives. What have ya'll done when the sub can't scream out "red"??? lol

Try something you can jingle, like a set of keys. Stomping/banging 3 times in a row is another option. Or, a flashlight that you can flick on and off, if the music will be too loud. Enjoy the bondage! Fire

A lot of people use a handkerchief or a jingly ball in the hand. If they drop it, then it's the same as a safeword. Or there's hand squeezes or foot stomps or eye blinks or any number of other ways to communicate. Safe word- with a ball gag??

Good morning Cravin, This is a great time of year to pick up a few jingle bells. Those can be dropped with a noticeable noise. You might also try wadding up a red scarf in your hand. If needed this can be either waved or dropped to get the Dom's attention. Realistically though I would suggest that he make it a point to watch your eyes. Even if he has to walk around you now and then and pull your head back, ot's the best way to see how the Sub is doing and then he'll know when to let off a little and let you catch your breath or to continue. He should at all times be focused on where you are in your thresholds--My suggestion is first few times, use a gag lose enough you can get your safe word out and btw I never recommend the use of "red" to easily mistaken or not heard, I always recommend a word completely out of the life, like Nantucket or something--some Doms will take "red" as a direction to keep going full steam ahead---be very careful with that---

I would agree, but often at dungeons or special events, things are at the last minute and assumptions exist--simply My way of making sure caution is used and never assumed---

One thing that might work is changing your safeword to "uh-uh," which can be said while gagged. If you're afraid this isn't distinguishable enough from other noises you might be making :), and you don't want to have to drop something in your hand, you could try using two taps with a hand, if it's audible. What position are you in that he can't see you drop something? In my opinion, it's especially important with bondage to pay careful attention to the sub's entire body.

I use a two-layer safe word system. One for if things are getting a bit too intense too fast, and one for distress. A bell in the hand often works if you’re gagged. Dropping it includes both vision and sound. If you ring it there is some correctable trouble and if you drop it, it’s panic time. My two cents or is that senses? Tony

First if your gagged, your Dom should be paying extra close attention. As an alternative try using your fingers extended and spread as a duplication for red. The bells and cloth are a good thing too. The point being that if you are gagged and bound, you only have your hands and fingers to signal with.

Hum a tune that you both know and your dom can recognice. Practice it with a gag of choice in your mough so they know what it sounds like when you do it. I read that in a story once and it sounded like a good idea.

i know some subs that lift up a foot to safeword if they are gagged, but that wouldn't work for me, cause i move around too much. i have also heard of holding something in your hand and dropping it and yes your Dom would have to pay attention to make sure he didn't miss the signal. Of course he should be paying attention anyway so.....

greetings, cravin a spank,in lsiten:, in simple basic wrestling no matter what position you two may end up in, if it's, too intense ; you hit your hand; slapping it on a surface ,until you are let go don't you see what the common-rule is, for contact-sports? it's the old hand tap and, your out!...give up!!...etc? i hope i made this clear ,enuff,to picture(utilize).
