FatDomDaddy -> ACORN: In your opinion do the ends justify the means? (10/11/2008 8:05:50 PM)

After reading all of the outrage about the Diebold voting machines in these forums, I am wondering what people are thinking of ACORN's voter registration movement?

rexrgisformidoni -> RE: ACORN: In your opinion do the ends justify the means? (10/11/2008 8:06:47 PM)

That they deserve to be investigated and if need be, prosecuted.

JohnboyNC -> RE: ACORN: In your opinion do the ends justify the means? (10/11/2008 8:09:27 PM)

What about this presidential election?  How in the world can it be fair?

slvemike4u -> RE: ACORN: In your opinion do the ends justify the means? (10/11/2008 8:11:04 PM)

Well I think registering voters is a good thing...don't you.If their is fraud those responsible should of course be prosecuted....if evidence and not innuendo is actually found. As of yet there would appear to be a shortage of actual verifiable intent to commit fraud....and till there is such evidence this is just speculation.

if the shoe were on the other foot, i somehow doubt you would be so calm....LOL

if McCain or Barr campaigns had donated $800,000.00 to an organization to feed, drive them to the polls, buy them cigarettes for registering Pub or independent & influence voters, all the Dems would be screaming foul!!

No mike,  I think its the personal responsibility of the actual voter to register themselves. Registering to vote is easy to do anywhere in the country. There is something off putting to me with the voter recruiting that goes on in both parties. What is so difficult about taking personal initiative and contacting your local Board of Election to register to vote?

i believe ACORN is the smoking gun!

just proves the corruption exist imho

Interesting thought FDD,in other words you are against the Rock the Vote movement...and all other attempts to broaden the percentage of eligible voters in this country that actually vote...interesting!

JohnboyNC -> RE: ACORN: In your opinion do the ends justify the means? (10/11/2008 8:25:27 PM)

voting is a priviledge not a right.
bribery has no place in it.

rexrgisformidoni -> RE: ACORN: In your opinion do the ends justify the means? (10/11/2008 8:27:33 PM)

Watch the news...or read a newspaper whatever. 12 states have found ACORN voter reg forms with fictitious names, dead people, the cowboys, etc. One county in Ohio alone has 2100 that they have counted. So in this case there is ample evidence to investigate and more than likely convict many people. Yes people registering to vote is a grand thing, but I think people themselves should do it, not rely on interest groups to do it. So, there is a mountain of evidence, not just speculation. go have your chuckle now.

~FR~

I have no problem with voter registration drives as long as it's above board and legal. I encourage all my friends and family to register, get informed, then get out there and vote for the issues/candidates of their choice.

I dont agree with that sentiment, if someone offers to take the time to help you register, why not take it if you are busy/lazy/whatever?

fraud is of course unjustifiable.
but then i think, what if it was germany 1930, and someone was mobilising to cheat hitler out of representation?

It is the over recruitment of numbers  to bolster agendas that bother me.  I am equally concerned about Evangelical voter recruitment and other agenda driven recruitments.

In the 1920's the Klu Klux Klan led huge and seemly successful voter registration drives that resulted in KKK slates getting elected all over the country and not just in the South. Of course history found those efforts rife with corruption and fraud.

There are ample ways to educate voters without actually recruiting them.
