It seems that you have a different question in mind than the one I actually answered, which is why are people obsessed with the points thing. I thought my answer was pretty obvious and unobjectionable. If you have a different question you'd like to ask, I'd be happy to take a crack at it.

The impression I've had, of recent days, is that you seem to be focusing on EW's posts, and engaging him in opposing views.   And yes, my thought was "I wonder what triggered NZ's hardon for EW?"

My question was getting at the underlying reason you gave for why the points have any value (which I find hilarious, considering I'm an existential nihilist).

Either I'm intentionally trying to garner adulation and, apparently, have succeeding and was reaping benefit from the points thread specifically for that reason: in which case I'm guilty of being successful but having a suspicious motive (like, the universal human desire for reciprocal attention).

Or I'm garnering this adulation purely on passive elements that are inherent to my person: in which case I'm guilty of earning the willingly given attention of others honestly and the thread is just a fun game like any of the hundreds of others. Like that FelineFae chick! Where she claims to be the keeper of the "win" in that 'last person to post' thread. Devious chick. It must be us felines.

I digress, however. My question or curious musing, however, is whether any accusations of doing anything for ego/arrogance purposes online actually have any logical merit based on what the person is doing, or whether it all invariably comes down to personal interpretations of actions that, oddly, have to be successful in order to garner the suspicion.

The only other thread in recent history where I replied to him was in one related to the entire Psychonaut incident (which may or may not still be there, after moderator editing).
