Well, I have two transatlantic submissives. We use yahoo, webcams and telephone to communicate. But the main method is through a particular online virtual world, where you have a customisable avatar to represent yourself, and physical surroundings that are very realistic. This particular world has a large BDSM contingent, including some Gorean areas. There are animations for sex and beating as well as other things. It is possible to become immersed in this to the extent that one of my subs once entered subspace during a scene, and the other one has come close to it. It sounds silly, but it really does work - given that online can imitate the real thing but never actually supplant it.

I am reminded about the story of the couple that went to a local BDSM club ...The Dominant dressed in leather, looking large and in charge....his slave quickly stripped naked and led by a leash through the club till he secured her to a St. Anderews cross. Then openning his toy bag he produces a single tail and took up the proper spot behind her where like a pro he recoiled the whip and swung.
