xXLithiumXx -> Creepiness! (10/13/2008 7:29:08 AM)

Its October. Halloween, ghosties and what not...So, I thought I would take some time, do a lil research and see if I could dig up some horror movies that claim to based on a true story, and either debunk them, or show some fact in them...

Here's what I have so far.

10 Rollinton Place....Its an older flick, I havent personally seen it, but the story is based on true events.
Heres a link to the history of it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/10_Rillington_Place

Texas Chainsaw Massacre...One of my personal favorites, the new one any way, lets admit it, that thru the back of the head drippy brain shot was awesome. The credits state it was based on a true story, and it was...rather lightly..based on Ed Gein. The similarity was the wearing of human skin over your own. Eddie did that, so did Leatherface. Good ole Eddie and Tommy...buddies in hell.

Hannibal the Cannibal....again, a personal favorite, I think I may actually have a crush on Anthony Hopikins. (Hellooo Clarice....Yum.) Unfortunately this man is not real, and is only loosely based on Hammilton Albert Fisch, who was no where near as cool as Hannibal.  So uncool that he got fried for his acts of cannibalism. The story is here...http://www.lawbuzz.com/movies/hannibal/the_hannibal_ch1.htm

From Hell...Again, based on some fact, due to the Jack the Ripper theory. I would say its more viable than that he just got bored and quit.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose....based on a true story. Tho her name wasnt emily, and she was German....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Exorcism_of_Emily_Rose

Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer....true. Guy claims to have killed 600, really its only like 350. But hey, still a decent body count right? Henry Lee Lucas was his name. Good ole GW Bush changed him from a Death Row inmate to a lifer in 1988. (Now now...no politics kiddies. Thats the real scary truth, we are saving that for November...)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Lee_Lucas

Frailty... I loved this movie, and while it may seem real, I couldnt find anything that made it so. :(

Amityville. Nothing says creepy fun like puking nuns....But the only real truth to it was the Defeo murders.  Ronie Defeo...The loving son....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronald_DeFeo

Natural Born Killers....Micky and Mallory....Star crossed lovers if ever there was a pair. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Starkweather

The Exorcist....ahh Fatha Merrin....http://www.weird-encyclopedia.com/exorcist.php

Im sure that there are more, but thats all I got for today folks.

If you want to know if its true, but arent sure, cmail me, or leave a message here, and I will gladly look them up for you. I love this creepy stuff.

Hi handsome!

Spooky films based on reality... I don't really have a favorite of those, but I am fond of "The Swamp"

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Creepiness! (10/13/2008 8:13:17 AM)

I saw "An American Haunting" last week.  Neato!

MadAxeman -> RE: Creepiness! (10/13/2008 8:21:16 AM)

Antony Hopkins performance as Hannibal Lecter is a hammy cartoony affair.
See Brian Cox in Manhunter for a much creepier portrayal.
Emily Rose was a snorefest..

You want creepy and real life?  Try any of the light-hearted, romantic comedies titled "Faces of Death".

~Dave

MadAxeman -> RE: Creepiness! (10/13/2008 1:15:50 PM)

Faces Of Death is at least 50% fake.
Not a favourite, but Ted Bundy was reasonably accurate.

monywildcat -> RE: Creepiness! (10/13/2008 1:21:20 PM)

Daddy has decided that we are having a Saw-athon before I am drug kicking and screaming to go see Saw V.  [:(]  I'm soooo bringing my blankie.

The last horror movie I saw was Hostel.  Was that based on any truth?  *shudders*

As for Anthony Hopkins, yumo.  "quid pro quo"  Creepy=delicious.
