Investigate me!

What's up with politicians calling for investigations into their own ethics issues? Seriously, I'm stumped. Is it some sort of distractionary measure? "If I call for an investigation it will show I have nothing to hide and maybe people will forget that I have no ethics?" [:'(]

WTF?!??

And people wonder why I've added the word 'liar' to my thesaurus as a synonym for politician.

I don't know, Bita... just exactly what would you have him say?  It's not like folks will believe it if he denies it... and if he ignores it, they'll think he's guilty because he doesn't deny it.  His only choice that would be accepted is to confess to wrongdoing.  That's cool if he really violated ethics, but what if he's innocent?

lol... Not that I believe any politician is "innocent".

I don't know, Treasure. ::sighs:: I just feel as if when things like this happen, when politicos call out for investigations it's a waste of time and taxpayer dollars when, yeah, simply admitting that you screwed up then let the chips fall where they may would be so much better. Shit happens, people are flawed. Adults acknowledge that and then we all move on even if we have to eat crow or wear a bit of egg on our faces for a while. You know Americans. We have short memories (no doubt why the politico's think they have to keep reminding us of shit over and over and over and over again!) And, I gotta say, if he is innocent ::koffs:: then stand up, say FUCK YOU to all of us and if you get called before some sort of committee, then go and fight for yourself. I've no issue with that action.

Mahoney issued a statement to ABC News that the woman had resigned voluntarily, but I heard on the tape, with my own ears, he fired her. Why lie? That's not going to go very far to convince me that he's going to be telling a whole lot of truth about things, you know? That was on the news, but I have no doubt that there will be some sort of Utube video with the recording.. hell, probably before I finish typing this post out! And, he didn't just fired her, but was quite vehement and when she asked why, he ranted, raved and then said, "You work at my pleasure. Do you understand that?"

Fire who you want. Do what you want. I have no issue with it .. but don't call for investigation which is going to take taxpayer dollars (especially when most folks have less of those these days) over this sort of horseshit. It's just smacks of a pre-emptive strike to me and wouldn't you know that Pelosi, in lickity split time, also called for an investigation. Two investigations for the price of one as if we don't have anything better to spend taxpayer dollars. It's not like banks are failing, people are losing their homes, we've got a huge job shortage or anything important like that going on. [:'(]

I do know what you mean.  Thing is, I believe that a great deal of what our "beloved representatives" get up to is a waste of taxpayer dollars.  What can you do, though?  They truly live in another world.

Perhaps Mahoney thinks that by asking for such public humiliation, he is showing contrition and asking for forgiveness? The public confession business is huge: there's a book in the making.

Wait a minute Celeste. Did you not say that there was a huge job shortage. Isn't an investigation putting people to work?

if he voted for the bailout, his term is up.
