Of the ones in the poll, gotta be Grandma Got Run Over By The Reindeer, mainly because Elmo Shropshire was Mr Cat's vet in San Francisco.  After the Denver-SF stoopid bowl rout in the late 80's or early 90's, he wrote & recorded Broncos Got Run Over By the Niners.  LOL  He was a hoot!

As far as in general, I have probably 30+ Christmas cd's & I play them all at Christmas, so it's hard to pick a favorite, but Liberace's Christmas cd is right up there on top.

And the joker got away, hey

Jingle bells, batman smells Robin laid an egg
The batmobile lost it's wheel and the joker got away

Dashing through Gotham
In the Batmobile
Holy flats Batman
We just lost a wheel.

Serious: "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" (sung to period, accoustical backup)

Just nice on a snowy evening: "Charlie Brown Christmas" by Vince Guraldi (sp?)

Silly: "The Night Santa Went Nuts" and "Christmas at Ground Zero" by Weird Al.

VirginPotty -> RE: What's your favorite Christmas song? (10/14/2008 11:11:21 AM)

Blaakmaan -> RE: What's your favorite Christmas song? (10/14/2008 11:23:19 AM)

Hmmmmm...

How about "none of the above"?

I like "The Christmas Song" (Nat King Cole); "This Christmas" (Donny Hathaway); about 3 or 4 different tunes on "A Charlie Brown Christmas" (Vince Guaraldi); "Santa Baby" (Ertha Kitt); and "I'll be Home for Christmas--If Only in My Dreams" (various artists), for starters.

purepleasure -> RE: What's your favorite Christmas song? (10/14/2008 11:30:55 AM)

Mine is "O' Holy Night" by David Phelps

eta...

I also like Trans Siberian Orchestra's "Carol of the Bells"

dcnovice -> RE: What's your favorite Christmas song? (10/14/2008 11:40:49 AM)

Of the options listed, "O Come All Ye Faithful" is my favorite.

Other faves:

"Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas"
"We Need a Little Christmas"
"O Holy Night"
The Christmas portions of Messiah

purepleasure -> RE: What's your favorite Christmas song? (10/14/2008 11:45:00 AM)

And I'll dedicate this little ditty to all the blow job fans out there...

*whispers to Sir Steel*
Don’t be cranky now … we’re mid way through October, and that’s followed by the Thanksgiving month which as you well know is the breath and voice that ushers in Christmas ( for us who genuinely love the Christmas season … mid Oct isn’t to soon to start playing Christmas music … erm … I’ve been playing mine for 2 weeks now… lol

LOVE Your List Dave!!!!
In particular … Joni Mitchell / River ( I’m playing it now )

I lean towards the winsome instrumental Christmas compilations …
Windham Celtic is Always playing at my house
All the guitar renditions, though Steven Pasero is my personal fav .. Baroque renditions ... Hard to beat Mannheim Steamroller for Christmas music [;)]

Of the list ... Do You Hear What I Hear
