ladies - and possibly gents...!!

my Master and i are currently working towards a common goal but it is making my nipples incredibly sore and tender!!

is there anything that can be used to ease this a little - not completely as i like to be able to have the feeling during my "day" life to keep me close to Him when we're not together.... but it is making things more and more painful to continue with our aspiration!

perhaps this should have been posted in H&S - but wasn't sure!

ta muchly in advance!

Could you give us a little more detail as to your goal? This would help me at least with an answer cause I don't know what's causing the tenderness! [:)]

I will say that a great skin cream for nipples can be find in quilters shops - it's called Bag Balm and farmers put it on the teats of their cows to help with soreness/tenderness/cracking. It smells to high hell but works like a charm.

I don't know.  Maybe a little bit of ice for swelling (if that's the case), then maybe one of those topical "caine" creams applied to them.

hehe your cow comment made me laugh!!!

Ok we are working towards lactation - so going through the several times a day of nipple and breast manipulation...

would rather have something that didn't stink though!!!! He and i like my smell!

*nods* Bag Balm is awesome for all sorts of skin issues. They sell it at drugstores near me.

Bag balm? never heard of it over here in Blighty - will see if i can find an alternative!

any ideas what it might be called please?

Oh goodness - just realised that's the stinky stuff!

Udderly Smooth Udder Cream is great for dry, cracked skin and doesn't smell bad.  Avoid the use of clamps or clothespins on your nipples for more than 10 minutes at a time.

sounds like a butter make we have over here.... ok so basically i need to go to a farmer supply shop!

good advice regarding the time limit - thank you flaming!

  And make sure you're doing it properly. Real babies don't suck on just the nipple itself. They grab a whole big mouthful that includes as much behind the nipple (the aureole, etc.) as possible for their tiny mouths, and perform a squeezing motion with their mouths so as to actually milk the breast.

You wouldn't milk a cow by just grabbing the tip of the teat, for example. You'd grab way back up by the udder and squeeze it out toward the tip of the teat.

Well, you probably already know this stuff if you've been researching it but for the benefit of others... My point is that if one is suckled (or manually manipulated) properly, there is less stress on the nipple itself, which will mean less soreness.

akisha -> RE: Tender Nips (10/14/2008 1:33:13 PM)

My lactation consultant gave me the name of a cream to put on when i was nursing. It didn't stink or anything nasty. I can't friggin remember the name of it but if you get ahold of the LeLache group in your area or even go into a baby supply store they would know what it is.

So would your pharmasist.

It soaked in great and you didn;t have to worry about scrubbing it off before breast feeding again.

It works awesome.

If i can remember the name I'll post it

kiwisub12 -> RE: Tender Nips (10/14/2008 1:57:32 PM)

I used pure lanolin when i was breast feeding - worked well, no nasty taste so the um went right on.   and the above poster is correct - there is very little nipple manipulation involved in breast feeding.  So if your nipples are sore - you may not be doing something right.

BeIgnited -> RE: Tender Nips (10/14/2008 2:12:00 PM)

I've heard that warm, damp Camomile tea bags work well for tenderness.

metalmiss -> RE: Tender Nips (10/14/2008 2:36:08 PM)

Not quite sure on this one.. i'd go with what others have said and consult your Doctor [:)]

hejira92 -> RE: Tender Nips (10/14/2008 2:43:18 PM)

I have to go with Kiwi on this one- pure lanolin cream. I nursed three kids and didn't do it easily once. It's the incorrect suckling that hurts and cracks the nipples most.

velvetluxe -> RE: Tender Nips (10/15/2008 3:59:13 AM)

Lucas' Paw Paw Ointment- natural and great for cracked nips due to breastfeeding. Also works a treat on dry lips, any dry skin really.

Good luck [:D]

littlemisssnarf -> RE: Tender Nips (10/15/2008 10:02:47 AM)

Thanks to all for the advice - and indeed i think i may have been doing it wrong!

midtnsub4use -> RE: Tender Nips (11/2/2009 7:25:56 PM)

never heard of the Paw Paw ointment.  gonna have to look that up

DesFIP -> RE: Tender Nips (11/2/2009 7:31:39 PM)

Lanolin or Bag Balm. And yes, the pressure is not on the nipple but on the areola. What kind of a pump are you using? Because those little battery operated ones are useless.
