SlaveSuru -> what are your tattoos and what do they mean to you. (10/15/2008 7:30:45 AM)

over in the ask a master or mistress forums there was a post on Body art,   I got the itch now.  i want to see other's tattoos and what they mean to the person.  Silly I know but me being the body art lover i am I cannot resist!

I'll even go first

Pictures since Collarme has still not gotten around to approving my photos.
Follow the links.

First off We'll go with my first, I was taken to get it with my Mistress who did it as a way to help me get over my fear of needles,  i chose a pawprint because I have always identified with animals in a spiritual way,  my totem animal is the snow leopard and the ferret,  Both are secretive, but the ferret is openly playful and the snow leopard prefers to be discreet.  Both represent me.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v413/Failarhya/tattoo.jpg
next was the dragon,  I love my little faerie dragon,  I got him in rememberance of several people in my life,  Dragons represent strength and integrity,  My father believed in both of those.  He's also a reminder of a good friend of mine who is still battling for his life with the strength and ferocity of a dragon.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v413/Failarhya/tattoo.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v413/Failarhya/tattoo.jpg
Next was my kitties,  I got them during a very traumatic time in my life,  My Mistress had just passed on due to a tragic accident.  She used to always ask me when i was with her,  will you be a good kitty or a bad kitty.  These were for her, though my vanilla friends think they are for my sister because I never told them about my mistress.  I was alone in grieving for her since I had no friend I trusted at the time to understand.  These helped a great deal.  I chose bright colors because she was a very vivacious person.  I will always miss her.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v413/Failarhya/P1010085.jpg

Then my Other kitty,  my faith is very important to me and I have always had a strong belief in the elements.  Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Spirit.  I have always felt a kinship with cats,  so I chose one as the vessel for my spiritual beliefs.   If you look closely my tattooist did an " easter egg" sort of thing,  he added a star into the cats top front paw,  He's awesome for doing that too ^^   This was taken while it was still healing,  so don't mind the " flaky" bits.  It's the only good picture  I have.

http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m120/LiamSelkie/P1010232.jpg

Last but not least was my Shamrock.  Done in honor of both my grandmothers who have passed on.  The Shamrock is for my paternal grandmother who I always went shamrock hunting with and the eight blue " whimsical" stars are for my maternal grandmother.  She always was a quirky lady and I stayed with her during the summers of my 4th birthday to my 8th at the nudist colony she spent most of the year at.  She loved stars and always said there needed to be eight days in a week to do everything.

I'd love to hear about yours!

My 1st tattoo was on Aug 11, 2008 and it was 3 letters....T A J on my left thigh. All 1st letters of my grandums names.
On Sept. 9 I rec'd 2 tat's on my shoulders....Right shoulder has RIP D w/a black flower for my favorite uncle who passed away suddenly several years ago. He was 34 years old and I used to tease him about turning the big 35..............he died 3 months before his b'day.
On my left should in very tiny letters (tat artist said it was his smallest tat yet) I have....Sweet Dreams N w/a pair of tiny footprints. This is for a baby that died a long time ago.
On my left thigh above my grandums initials I added one more letter...C above them all and that was for my daughter.

i dont have a picture of mine yet, and i only have one but it means so much to me. i got it January 4th of this year, it is on my right shoulder and is a sunflower whose stem turns into chainlinks. It was a present from my Master and is a reflection of His influence and importance in my life.

No tattoo's here.  When I joined the military and they asked for any distinguishing marks they could put down to track me anywhere in the world.
That cured me from ever wanting even a scar let alone a tattoo.  Of course scars you cannot help.

chamberqueen -> RE: what are your tattoos and what do they mean to you. (10/15/2008 8:04:40 AM)

I got a modified I Ching (yin and yang) sign as my Master's mark.  I chose to put the black on top instead of the colors side by side.  To me it represents us - black/white, male/female, and especially domination/submission.  It was specially blended so that the two colors are starting to overlap as our minds and hearts are becoming one.  (My sister is a tattoo artist and we worked together on the design.)

xXLithiumXx -> RE: what are your tattoos and what do they mean to you. (10/15/2008 8:05:33 AM)

1) The Dolphin on my chest. Right side, with the scar from the last blade play session in its bottle nose. I got that when I was 17, my neightbor did it with a home made gun. I got it because Dolphins are free, beautiful, playful things. And at 17, I wasnt. I envied them.
2) It started as a yin yang on the left ankle, done by said neighbor above, same manner, covered later with an eclipse because black ink and a home made gun just dont do well. Later covered again with a spade. Like from a playing card. It was a sign of respect from the place that I grew up in, when some one died to place an ace of spaded in the coffin with them. It meant that they were the best of the best. I plan to have my Paternal grand mother and grand fathers birth and death dates inked in around the edges.
3) The butterfly on my right ankle. First professional tat. Butterflies are like dolphins, only not so out going, they tend to be shy and gentle. You can figure in the rest.
4) Between my shoulder blades, a girl in the moon holding a star with my oldest childs name on it. She was so etheral when she was born. It just seemed befitting.
5) My sons nick name. Nuff said.
6)Some weird 69 design at the small of my back. A friend designed it for me, and I wanted an excuse to get topless in front of the tattoo guy.
7)Garnett Colored winged dragon on my left shoulder. Its in that spot where the shoulder slopes up to the neck. Where most of the tension rests. I tell people its because my sons birth month is January. But really, it hurt like hell, and I wanted the pain.
8)Aquamarine colored winged dragon on my right shoulder. Same story a month later, only its the daughters birth color.
9)1/2 a heart on my right breast. I watched Mad love one too many times and thought it would be cool if every time my kids dad grabbed my boob it made a heart.
10) A heart with infinity symbols inside left ankle, that says "Never as Much as Tomorrow". My maternal gran used to tell us kids that she loved us more today than yesterday but never as much as tomorrow". When she died, I lost a small bit of my soul.
11)Out side right calf, the caterpillar from the cartoon alice in wonderland sitting on some shrooms smoking a joint. This thing took like 5 hours. Its black and grey and was my first really HUGE piece.
12)Out side Left calf, Koi fishes with the pices symbol in black behind them with a sploosh of water around them. Im a pices. I am a water baby, and I wanted another huge calf piece. 6 hours this time. Hurt like a bastard.
13)Middle of my back, about 8 to 10 inches plus tall, giant winged pixie sitting on a bed of vampire skulls, wearing nothing but a collar. 3 hours of single needle out line, 3 hours of color just in the wings, body and skulls still to be done.
14) Bullet with butterfly wings with the word Free inside right wrist. I got this when the kids dad and I split. Mainly because I felt trapped but free at the same time. Smashing pumpkin fans will get the reference.
15) Nifty lil tribal design on the back of my neck. I thought that would be the most painful place to get a tat. Turns out, it wasnt.
16) Right bicept. Hubby's name and some lil thready tribal stuff. He was in the joint. He was my dom at the time, what more do I need to say.

suhlut -> RE: what are your tattoos and what do they mean to you. (10/15/2008 8:22:34 AM)

no pictures of mine either, but it is located on the side of my right leg, in area between knee, and ankle.

It is of a slightly stylized tribal, but instead of all black like most tribal, mine is colored in.

Two roses, the top rose fully bloomed ,and the second still a rose bud, the rose stems are entwined with ribbon , of which both the stem and the ribbon, are done in tribal style.

And then, hovering over the open rose, i have a monarch butterfly.

The meaning..

First the easy part.. roses~ reason for them, are that they signify me, both fully matured, along with still so much to learn. And also, because, my other nick, here and elsewhere, for years has been "velvetpetal"

Now, for why i chose a butterfly.

my mother passed away two years ago, of a hereditary disease, in which she spent the last 10 years of her life, in a nursing home, unable to walk, eat solid food, nor talk in an easily understood way. That disease is called Huntingtons, and instead of describing it out further, its just easier for anyone that wants to learn more, to go look it up.

i know that many people will find me a bit strange when i say this, but, all of my mother's children, including myself, believe that my mother came back as, or sent a, Monarch butterfly to us in the days following her funeral, as a sign that she lives on, and is no longer confined to a life unable to move about as she wishes.

And so, in honor of that, i chose to have a monarch butterfly

My tattoo is on my lower back, just a touch lower than the normal "tramp-stamp", because I wanted to be able to pull my jeans over it.

It's the Dragonforce band logo in blues and whites. I got it shortly after attending a Dragonforce show in Springfield, VA.

They are a favorite band of mine, and it was the most amazing show I had ever seen. The lead singer of the band had even aimed his mic at me, sadly I didn't know that song (I WAS SURPRISED), and did the "widdly widdly" guitar fingers at me when I just screamed "WOOOO!" at him.

It is a memory for me of an experience I will never forget; it was the best damn date I've ever been on.

...It's too bad I'm going to cover it.

I have two right now, three more planned, then I'll fill in the blanks as I see fit. The two that I have are the Dragon (western mythology), representing fire, ambition, wisdom, mercilessness, anarchy, and chaos. The second is the Mer King, representing emotional control, intuition, water, beneficient monarchy, fluidity, and gradual wearing down of established foundations.

I am still waiting to have the Elf Queen done (representing stability, dominion, aloofness, energetic control, Earth, darkness), and Quetzalcoatl (representing Air, Chaos, communion, communication, control, deification). The last symbol to the set is the sygil that marks our House. It is comprised of three interlocking circles, with a 4th ring that connects the circles and forms a lotus in the center of the ring, surrounded by an ellipse. The representation designates the original core of our House, the relationship of the Arbiter in drawing the maximum potential from the Core, and the orbital aspects of our existence that integrate the House core with the world outside.

Once all the pieces are done, borders are to be worked from flowers particular to the orientation of each of the 'quarters' and the core. The floral areas will weave through one another until I am covered between hips and neck, front and back, with the design.

All we're waiting for now is a long enough remission in my illness to allow me to have the other pieces done.

LinnaeaBorealis -> RE: what are your tattoos and what do they mean to you. (10/15/2008 8:36:33 AM)

When I was 21, I wanted tattoos, lots of body art, but it would have been really unusual on a woman in the 60's.  It fit my lifestyle at the time, but I wondered if I would still be happy with them when I was 40, so I put off getting one until I was 43 & wanted the art as much as I had more than 20 years before.

The first one is on my left upper bicep & is a flamingo with red Lolita sunglasses.  At the time, I had a very large & eclectic collection of flamingos & wanted a permanent one.

The second is on my right shoulder in back.  It's a hubiscus vine with a multi-colored butterfly flying toward it.  Someday I will add the spider web with the spider that I got talked out of putting in the vine.  That one I got the last day when I was on Maui.  The artist said she would need 2 days to complete it, but I told her it was my last day so she had to do it all in one sitting.

The 3rd is on the back of my neck & is my owner's mark.  It's an "M" with some tribal-ish art around it.  That one is on my profile.  That one means the most to me, of course.  I said for decades that I would never get something like that put on my body, because relationships come & go but tats are forever.  When he told me that would be my collar, I immediately went & found a place to do it.  He wasn't with me at the time, so I had to get what I thought he wanted.  He loves it!!

My next will be a peacock down my back with its tail furled & draped.

I pray to St. Jude alot. Patron saint of lost causes.

I also want to get the one of the hubbies name covered with a lotus blossom that curves up over the shoulder with a flame snaking up over my collatr bone and water coming up over the side of my neck. Hes a fire sign Im a water sign. And then his name under it in carnival letters.

Ugh. Too late. Ive had it there for 4 years. On the right bicept. He got my name on him for my birthday 2 years ago. Weve been together for 5 years now. Hes a total fucking tard, but its like a bad train wreck...I just cant look away. even if I may wreck and die in a firey collision into a swamp filled with gators and sharks and pirannah, and cannibalistic witch doctors from hell.

Yes, its that bad at times. Lol.

There is a picture of mine on my profile taken just after it was done almost 4 weeks ago.  i chose it because for some reason it spoke to me when i saw it.  Master said i would know the right one when i saw it and He was right.  There are several S shapes in it and although it was not chosen because of them, they have come to signify slavery, submission, strength, serenity, soul and not least Slayer.  Even if there ever comes a time when Wwe are not together, my tattoo will still mean all those words to me.  It is about who and what i am, something i have always been and always will be....
