Noah -> Better to be pissed off than on? (12/9/2005 8:33:33 AM)

So here's a little song called:
"And Watersports are ahrd limit for me."

inspired by a line which appears
or let's say
to maintain the requisite degree
of anonymity might have appeared
in someone's manifesto

What do you suppose it might mean when

A woman's voice quavers just a little

Just when she's putting her foot

Down, you know? Drawing the line,

Buster.

I mean was that a phonetic spelling or what?

Is it just a little throaty artifact of emphasis?

She really means it a lot.

Like a double negative isn't a positive when she's saying: "No ... no ... "

Except sometimes but

And what's the deal with that capitalized

Initial, Sir?

I mean I find personally that the damp little

Whatchmacallits think they know what they mean

Think they know what they want

Think they know what they contain

But I mean when you drive in the opener

Tip, then flank

And crank the handle

Up and down and

Around and around

Then wedge a little and pry

With big, practiced, calloused fingertips grab the

Jagged--little bit dangerous--thing by it's edge

And lift it up; articulating the steel where it has

Never articulated before

Well I mean I find that

I find surprises sometimes. But honestly

Not surprises. I see it all coming from a mile away

Of course

But I do see surprise, you know?

On her face. Drenched with

With the other stuff

Horror and gratitude and something like reverence

Is the quaver noted above just a a slip

Of a slippery for some reason little

fingertip?

Or is it just a thing from a foot put down stiff upper lip?

Cause no matter how bad she wants

The other things, this one is

I'm sorry that's just

Why would anybody

But

What if he ... ?

"... ahrd"

Or am I off on the wrong track?

Maybe it's not an almost anagrammatical

Typographical

But rather an acronym

Please write to this address
If you can guess
What this not hard little quaver really might
Oh you're so
Mean.

Noah, I so enjoy listening when you type.

Aileen68 -> RE: Better to be pissed off than on? (12/9/2005 10:26:03 AM)

or maybe it was just a typo since she was just starting on her second cup of coffee.

Aileen68 -> RE: Better to be pissed off than on? (12/9/2005 12:36:55 PM)

It could also depend, of course, on WHO is doing the pissing.

Is this the beginning of an explanation of (one girls idea of) the difference between hard limits and ahrd limits?

I still think maybe it was an acronym. If only there were someone around here clever enough to figure out what the letters might stand for.

My favorite part of the story

justheather -> RE: Better to be pissed off than on? (12/9/2005 2:55:52 PM)

Actually,
Her Real Desire.

Or, perhaps, giving her the benefit of the doubt... We could say that an AHRD limit, At His Request, Dissolves.
Maybe we could say that.

Awright. Now who votes for the second cup of coffee theory, and who's down with At His Request, Dissolves?

Let's try this out: "And Watersports are At His Request Dissolves limit for me"

On one level I like it immediately but then syntax is wonky and there's the unfortunate potential literalness of the whole corrosive liquid/dissolves juxtaposition. But maybe that's good. It's kind of a romantic notion, right?

"Please. If You want me to I'll dissolve but then, you know, that's it, okay? So you decide."

And that other one: "Actually Her Real Desire" I guess that'd be that there reverse psychology type thing that Homer Simpson was talking about. Is Marge sub? Does she like him to ....

Is that why her hair is blue? I hear it can do freaky things to dye jobs.

And Watersports are A Humbly Realized Drenching limit for me

A hitherto resisted delicious limit.

"Hey lady won't you be my dog and I'll be your tree and you can pee on me. I won't do you no harm, other than pee in your afro. Hey lady won't you be my dog and I'll be your tree and you can pee on me."

Words by Parliament Funkadelic from the song Red Hot Momma

Raising once again the age-old question of who is the more important poet:

Billy Collins or Bootsy Collins?
