corysub -> Are you happy with and supporting your Congressional representatives? (10/17/2008 6:13:02 AM)

Congress is "enjoying" a hat sized popularity in the polls at around 10%-12%.  "Change" is in the air and yet it seems incumbants are re-elected based on national trends for President since most voters don't seem to split their votes.
Personally, I live in New Jersey where the democrat machine has ruled the roost.  Our state is famous for its corruption, high taxes, and a Governor, formerly with Goldman, Sachs and seems to have forgotten his "campaign promises". Seems the Goldman people are all over the place these days.
On the other hand I work in Pennsylvania these day and the local Congressman Patrick Murphy, a democrat, seems to understand the issues and works well with constitnuents.
I wonder how other people feel about their own Congressional representative, and if the party of their Presidential pick determines who they vote for in local elections?

I strongly support both my Senators. I don't know how they do it, but they get around the entire state regularly, and are consistently on top of issues before they become problems.

I'm not wild about my House Representative--but I don't think he's the spawn of Satan either. Part of the problem is that this district is one of those fucked-up thin meandering threads of a district snaking around the state. But he does stay in touch. I'd give him a C+.

Nor is partisanship prevalent here. In my rural area, almost everyone is a Republican, but our State Assemblyman and Senator are both popular Democrats---everybody knows them, and everybody has a personal story of how they were helped. We trust these guys, keep sending them back, and no one seems to notice they're Democrats.

It's a moot point where I live.  The Congressman is running unopposed.  There is a write-in space of course, but if anyone is shooting for that, the campaign outreach sucks.

Well, Murtha just called those in his district racist.  I'm almost in his district.

Hell NO!

I am going to fire my people.   They robbed me of my money. So they will be gone.

Bear Stearns might have been forgiveable.... but 700 BILLION is not.   They are done.  I dont care how high up they are, or what committee they are on.

Both PA senotors voted FOR the bail out.
My rep voted AGAINSt the bail out.

The congress shoved who is their master, and it is not me. It is not the guy next door, and it is no one in my town.  So- assuming voting works-  they are HISTORY.

Unfortunately PA IS a racist state.   PA has made some progress - but has a long way to go.

Observing people of color in my area, they have a harder time.

The culture shock of going from a metro to a small town is immense.

I know.  If it weren't for Pittsburgh and Philadelphia we'd be red.

The 3 biggest urban centers, arent really PA tho.     There is always the urban vs rural tension in PA.  yes alot of population are in Philly, Pitt, but the quality of life there is not impressive.

Even in affluent suburbs it is all about how much money one throws around.]

Life isnt exclusively about materialism.  Yes it is nive....but the worship of it is abit old.

Tho- is PA any more racist then any other state in the East?

Hmm.  Ild say it is red- but not as red as say Oklahoma.

Yet- Chicago has racest portions/people too...

No easy answeres.

I don't support ours though everywhere I have ever lived I did not support them either.

Both representatives in this area are republican.  Both eventually voted for the bailout but Posthumus seemed to understand that the bailout was in the wrong form and voted for it anyway.  Ehlers would vote for Bush for King.  I get madest at Posthumus because there was hope for him and he still screwed up because of fear of losing votes.  I would not vote for either.  Levin is a Senator and is good for the people of Michigan.  The other Senator is also a Democrat but a complete idiot. I would never vote for the later.  She probably was the sponsor for the bridge to no where.
