That thought of her a reformer has taken it's share of hits lately.

Oh for Christsake, P-one, of course it has.  Most people had never heard of Sarah Palin before she got dumped into the spin machine and declared a hate object.  How many of those shrieking how awful she is, have read one word about her that was written before McC brought her up to the big league, and it all had to look bad?

She's going to be on SNL tomorrow night.  It will be one of the rare occasions I watch.  Might be fun.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that Palin's awful. She's a fun figure of entertainment. As a politician, she sucks beyond belief, but that's not what you were alluding to, was it?

Please explain how you figure that, Kitten.  As a politician, she went from the PTA to the governors office.  Along the way, she beat an incumbent in the primary.  Please.  Explain to me how she "sucks beyond belief."  Politicians are people who get elected, right?  She obviously doesn't suck at that.

Really.  I want to know.  As Ricky Ricardo would say, "Splain!"

She's tough, and I like her resume.  But she is a Republican, and we have to hate her.

You may hate her; I don't.  I feel sorry for her; in fact, she has awaken my compassion, definitely not something I ever thought I'd feel on behalf of a crook.

Palin was a pawn.

If this gamble loses for McCain, Palin's ambitions in national politics die with his.

Huh???  She's a star, Muse.  You aren't going to wish her away.  I can easily see her running in '12, from the US Senate, and her cry of "Reform!" will reverberate in the ears of those who thought "Change" was going to be so great.

There are those of us, Ron, who like women who aren't afraid to throw an elbow to win.

Not a wish or a maldiction, "Here"

Name me one former failed Vice-President who went on to success in national politics.

OH, I forgot. She's a Maverick. That's different.

Yeah, I know the ideal you were heading for.

But itis a fuckin' crazy deal, my friend.

The game is played by stupid stepping stones.

Ron....

um......

Nixon was elected Vice-President....

I know you know what I meant, but seems all the players aren't up to speed, so just saying.

But if Adlai Stevenson had just hired himself a barbershop quartet to sing on TV "I like Adlai, I like Adlai...," we'd never have had to endure McCarthyism (largely encouraged by Nixon) while Ike just held his nose and pandered to the Conservatives he disliked but felt he owed for electing him, we'd never had had the stupid, stupid Watergate paranoia by a nervous former Vice-President who needed to break the law just to win an election he was gonna win anyway.

Let's not even get into Spiro Agnew.

Tim

Palin will be on SNL!  I thinks she's a worthless bimbo dressed-up as a serious politician, but I'm glad to see she can take a joke.  I really hope they put Tina Fey (as Palin) next to Sarah Palin.  Should be hysterical :)

Since then, she's been a two-edged sword.  She's galvanized the right wing of the party, which had been unhappy with McCain, but she'd not winning over moderates and undecideds.  So she's great for fundraising but is dead weight for the ticket.

She is galvanizing the religious right, and the redneck right, but not the intellectual right or the classic Goldwater conservative right.  The fomer like her, the latter are bailing in droves, specifically over her and the two issues she represents, religion and podunk.

Although Bush never lived up to expectations, he at least went into it with support from all four areas.  She is scraping along with support from two.  Those who represent classic (non-evangelical) conservativism learned from what was the Bush experience, and are stepping off this train before it even leaves the station.

McCain picked her for being an 'outsider'.  Who knew she had this talent of turning 'outsider' into a handicap. And there, as they say, goes the election.

Well, to know that would preclude shooting from the hip.

And that kind of careful thinking and planing is not what mavericks do.

Raising the bar all the way up to cover, huh, Muse?  How about failed Veep candidates who went on to be the nominee?  Most should remember Mondale.  And didn't Edwards come out to play for a while?

     She is SO not over.
