  • Well, if apPaling ever becomes something real in national politics you can bet your ass that America's standing as a world-class power will tumble down so fast from its mid-podium position you'll get to see those famous heels of hers in situ faster than you can say 'maverick'.

Um,

Mondale and Edwards both, um, like lost, didn't they....?

And today, they hold what national offices?

But if you seriously want Palin in national office, my initial remark was not a cut, but an observation. They brought her up too soon.

I don't share your assessment of her, but if she indeed has talent, they just blew it on a gamble.

Palin's probably a good driller. I'll give her that.

You said it killed her ambition, Muse, not her chances of pulling it off.  Then you asked for an example of someone winning to prove your point.  What is that particular logical fallacy called?  I would disagree with you about her chances of winning, but I'm calling 'poppycock' on the idea that a loss here is going to crush her dreams.

Who said anything about cwushin her dweams? She can dream as much as she likes. It's just that her career's gone down the bog forever. Making fossil fuel for future generations, so to speak.

If this gamble loses for McCain, Palin's ambitions in national politics die with his.

Huh???  She's a star, Muse.  You aren't going to wish her away.  I can easily see her running in '12, from the US Senate, and her cry of "Reform!" will reverberate in the ears of those who thought "Change" was going to be so great.
No way Heretic, after this she can buy a plumbing business with Joe The Plumber!!!!!!!!!!!

Have it your way, Rich.

I was stating the obvious anyway, and only time will tell.

Fact remains, no defeated vice-presidential candidate I can think of continued on to national office, and so far, you can't think of one either.

TheHeretic -> RE: McCain admits he didn't really know Palin (10/17/2008 10:26:46 PM)

And how many black presidents have we had, Muse?  The past does not predict the future.  Why do you keep insisting on pretending you said something else?  You said it will kill her ambition, I said 'like hell.'  Get over it and move on.

OK man. Keep her poster on your wall. Enjoy.
