ORIGINAL: SL4V3M4YB3 It might be something to do with the Russians maybe they'll want to test US opinion on if building that missile shield is still a good idea? We all know that is one of their biggest gripes at the moment along with the land grab going on in the north. Of course if we had all trusted one another like we did before 2000 then we wouldn't be at this point now would we? The way other nations get treated leaves a legacy that continues on after the administration changes. Russian relations as bad as the cold war: check Forgive me, but I really don't understand why it is America that always has to aplogize. Germans good, americans bad, French good, americans bad, UK good, Americans bad, and now Russia good, Americans bad! Bad enough Kerry was upset because the French did not like us, and that did not work for him,...but now people blame the USA for the ex-KBG led government of Russia for the growing stress between our two countries. What are you saying, that "Mother Russia" is a virgin, pure as the snow on the Alaskan thundra. Trust each other the way we did before 2000? Yep, we trusted (we=Bill Clinton) the North Koreans in a deal brokered Marilyn Albright, and they built a nuclear weapon, we lulled into a false comfort zone by a strong economy in the 1990's, stimualted by the growth of technology and the internet (read: internet invented by Al Gore), while terror cells were training, taking flying lessons, and plotting their horrendous attack that killed over 3,000 people. The United States has a history of trusting, and being screwed every time. Truth is, countries link up with countries that serve their own special interests. As the Russian Bear continues to snarl, I think you will see more Europeans looking west and kissing the butt of Uncle Sam the way they always do when they smell trouble coming their way. In the interim, the real long term threat to the USA at the moment is not Russia but China..and that's another topic.
