Many of us have been spending time on these forums speaking about the Prez race, but something almost as important is the fact that it's possible to have a 4-way checks and balances system in this country for the first time in a very long time. (Not sure it's ever happened!) Executive, legislative, judicial and media .. all leaning liberal. Is this healthy for our country? Do you consider this possibility and does it effect your vote? We have one of those notable toss-up seats here in MN with Norm Coleman on one side and Al Franken on the other and right now, Franken is slight leading but really, it's too close to call mainly because we have an I running by the name of Barkley who is polling around 17% and founded the party which saw Jesse Ventura get elected. The dems would clearly like to see Franken win this seat and help push towards that magic #60 in the Senate and, of course, the pubs would like to cut the chances of that happening by seeing Coleman retain his seat. We are, literally, being bombarded with negative ads including many that are using Frankens past as a political satirist and comedian against him and, of course, Coleman is being touted as a Bush clone to drive votes to the other side. How important is the checks and balance system to you and the make-up of each branch of government given that the media, as a whole (some notable exceptions, of course!) is fairly liberal?
