I find it interesting that on the day the NY Times endorsed Obama, the price of their stock is at an all time low. Can you say ' Junk Bonds '.. The old lady is becoming more irrelevant as each week passes..

Funny thing is,so are McCain supporters...at an all time low and irrelevant.Seriously though considering the price of most stocks are plummeting,what does the price have to do with the endorsement.IMO it is a well thought out and most complete explanation of the choices facing the American voter this year.

~FR~

Whatever your leanings, it's a well written and thought provoking article, and I hope all at least read it.

Unfortunately, most stocks are getting hit hard this year as the mortgage crisis has spilled over to the general economy and impacting company earnings.  401k's are now 201k's.  The "Times", however, has been in a downward death spiral for years as advertising revenues fall and big losses hit the bottom line.  Could be there isn't much of a growth market for a paper that has become what many call the "propaganda arm of the DNC" and spin or make up stories to suit the ultra liberal, American bashing agenda of the editors.  Liberal radio, liberal TV and liberal print media have very focused markets.  It's just not a good business plan.  The link below is a five year trading history of the NY Times.  Missed the entire up move in the market in a steady downward push.[:)]

By the way, have you see that disgusting footage of Limbaugh shouting "It's all about race, Race, RACE!" upon hearing Powell had endorsed Obama? Now that's what I call bias, don't you?

No... I would call that "projection", because for Rush it is all about race... so he is projecting his feelings on to Powell.

'd prefer that foreign countries not "like" our president.

Why is that?

Would you be interested to know that the Founding Fathers wanted foreign countries to like us?

LOL cory, yes it is once again the left wing medias fault that Newspapers all over the country are dying?
Has nothing to do with the INTERNET or cable TV news? Has nothing to do with instant news cycles?
What a load that is! As a person who spends 8% of his company's revenue on advertising and has bought advertising all over the country I think on that one you are so far off it is absolutely hilarious. As a man who for years subscribed to both daily morning and afternoon papers wherever I have lived I now subscribe to neither.
I can turn on my computer and basically read 4 or 5 newspapers a day without spending a dime on a subscription.
Face it, the papers are not as effective for business as they once were, direct mail, TV and INTERNET presence have long surpassed print as it once was. Newspapers cannot depend on subscriptions for income and due to a lack of advertising their rates have gone up and the effectiveness has gone down. Talk to anyone who spends money on advertising or anyone who sells advertising. My goodness man, get passed the left wing blame game and look at the real picture!

Of couse you are quite correct, print media is generally suffering from competition that was non-existent a decade ago..in some cases a few years ago.  Who ever heard of Daily Kos, Politico, et al.
My post was in response to Mike's comment about all stocks hitting new lows...and just tried to show that the New York Times business model, like other strongly liberal business models, are not attractive for earnings performance.
The stock has gone down steadily for years with underperforming results, layoff's, and not helped with made up stories by "fiction writers disguised as "journalists".
Reading the New York Times, my previous hometown paper, is like looking at the Keith Olbermann show... I can take it for two minutes, maybe, since its free...but you know it's all liberal spin.  The Grey Lady s dead, and no longer publishes "all the news that's fit to print"..

edited to try to correct my lousy spelling and correct a phrase.

It`s the Grey Lady...

And in case you didn`t notice,the stock market just lost 1/3 of it`s value in a few weeks.Poof!

All stocks are down.

~~~~~~~~~
The NYT isn`t all liberal.either.
It helped Cheney sell the Iraq war by getting info(back-channel)
from Cheney and then publishing it as fact.
Then Cheney/Bush would sight the Times as a source and use it to legitimize the war.
For that,the Times will always be on my shit list.
I don`t recall her name,but the same reporter who participated in the propaganda gambit w/ Cheney was the same woman who was jailed in the Plamegate/neo-con treachery scandal, for refusing to testify.
When she went to jail(for a short time),I was thrilled in the same way Nicol Simpson`s family was thrilled when OJ was found guilty.Maybe not found guilty for the big crime,but punished all the same.
If the Times fessed up and also fired that reporter in shame,then maybe the Times could earn back their respect.
Till then,the New York Times will always be associated with helping to lie us into the Iraq war.
