http://www.rd.com/your-america-inspiring-people-and-stories/presidential-election-08-global-poll/article102098.html Almost overwhelmingly the rest of the world supports Obama, with a strong view that our Image and support around the world would be favorably increased.

Is anyone surprised by this endorsement? Seems like no news to me.

A warm reception for our elected representatives by the world is a better thing to have than to not have it is still important to remember his or her job is to represent us, and not the rest of the world.

Yep but it really helps if when representing us, he is not facing hostility from every corner..It's hard to be seen as benevolent, helpful and a world leader when you are inspiring fear and loathing.

Have the Washington Times and the Wall Street journal endorsed McCain yet, or are they too chicken-shit ?

By the way, have you see that disgusting footage of Limbaugh shouting "It's all about race, Race, RACE!" upon hearing Powell had endorsed Obama? Now that's what I call bias, don't you?

I've seen how Mr. Limbaugh was taken out of context (as per usual, with the Left) sure. How else can the Left win elections, unless they're dishonest this way?

Here's some reality for you kitten. Rush Limbaugh was referring to Powell's decision to endorse Obama, he was saying that Powell's endorsement was all about race. He said Obama has no experience, his judgment in picking associates is abysmal - he hangs with terrorists and other radicals, and that Obama's socialist economic policies will usher in another great depression... Obama's foreign policy is retreat and disaster... so what reason does that leave for Powell's endorsement of him?

And I'm also aware that Rush Limbaugh is not a news anchor, and that he's a talk show host. In other words, kitten, Rush Limbaugh is expected to be biased. Don't tell me you haven't got that yet...

The Chicago Tribune and Salt Lake Times endorsing Obama is news.  The NYT endorsing Obama isn't.

Most of the media leans far to the left, especially newspapers. Pat Buchanan has an interesting OP-ED article on the subject out today, and here's an exerpt from it:

quote:

Saturday, the New York Times did a takeout on Cindy McCain that delved back into her problem with prescription pills. Yet when Hillary's campaign manager, Mark Penn, brought up Obama's cocaine use on "Hardball," he was savaged by folks for whom the Times is the gold standard.

The people apparently had a "right to know" of Bush's old DUI arrest a week before the 2000 election, but no right to know about how and when Obama was engaged in the criminal use of cocaine.

The media cannot get enough of the "Saturday Night Live" impersonations of Palin as a bubblehead. News shows pick up the Tina Fey clips and run them and run them to the merriment of all.

Can one imagine "Saturday Night Live" doing weekly send-ups of Michelle Obama and her "I've never been proud" of my country, this "just downright mean" America, using a black comedienne to mimic and mock her voice and accent?

"Saturday Night Live" would be facing hate-crime charges.

How do we know? When the New Yorker ran a cartoon of Michelle in an Angela-Davis afro with an AK-47 slung over her shoulder, New Yorker editors had to go on national television to swear they were not mocking Michelle, but the conservatives who have so caricatured Michelle and the Messiah.

Is there a media double standard? You betcha.

care for a little cheese with that whine Sanity?
It's the liberal media! OH NO!
To quote Buchanan is a sign of desperation, the great questioner of the Holocaust...he has so much credibility!
Not so sure that even the Republicans much care for him anymore. I will be happy once the election is over
just so I will not have to listen to his sister on CNN!

Do you never discuss the actual substance of a given debate, Mark?

Or are you just another one of these types around here who thinks that their only  hope of  ever "winning" a debate lies in attacking the character of whoever they think has a different mindset than their own.

Never attacked your character....never would, just tire of the same response to things. I like your character and try to respect your opinion, you are as steadfast in your thoughts as I am in mine. The liberal media thing is just overblown and seems to be a pat answer to everything .
Face it, Buchanan is not exactly the best source of information, if he doesn't like something he just claims it doesn't exist or it is the fault of those damn leftists and hardly
adds credibility to your point.

And that strikes you as a reasonable analysis how? Coming from the scum of the earth like Limbaugh, nothing should surprise me, but coming from you, I find this worrying - let's just hope that not many people think like you two, aye ?

I prefer they at least be willing to talk to them and work with them, than ally and join against us. As a person I prefer to live peacefully with my neighbors and to be able to talk with them if some thing goes  wrong, rather than sit surrounded by hostile or apathetic neighbors, the same goes for my country. Trade agreements, support in wars, etc. is a lot easier to negotiate if they are looking more favorably on the administration negotiating it.

What bull.

In 161 years the Chicago Tribune has endorsed a single Democratic candidate for President, Barack Obama.

Phx, other than England, Australia and a few other *Western* countries what type of "support" would we ever get from foreign countries in time of war?
Oh sure, Poland may volunteer 400-600 Troops but not a lot of countries have Air Craft Carriers or 100,000 Troops at their disposal.
Most couldn't even muster 20 tanks!
As for "trade agreements" those are what have gotten us into so much trouble financially and otherwise, think "NAFTA."
We really don't need to trade with much more than 15 or 20 countries.
I'm really not interested in wether a foreign country "likes" my country or not.
I have a list of countries that I don't "like" as well.

I was not commenting on his analysis, kitten. I was pointing out how you were smearing him by using his words out of context in your post # 9.

He's only "scum of the earth" to the extent that you claim he is when viewed through the fun-house mirrors that you seem to be using for your news sources. Why can't you ever discuss issues... and why are so many on the left so obsessed with attacking people's character.

And then you say I worry you... as a part of your character attack against me personally. This trend towards the politics of personal destruction among so many on the left is what worries me.
