LexiTempest -> Alt.com and the like (10/23/2008 10:23:33 PM)

I noticed today that when My name is entered into Google, several entries with bogus site addresses (and bogus descriptions) show up and incorporate My name. They all redirect to Adultfriendfinder.com, even though I do not have an account with that site.

I do have an account with Alt.com, but My user name is not "Mistress Lexi Tempest," as My full name would not fit. Also, I'm nowhere near Elgin, IL as their titles and descriptions state. However, one of My Myspace friends is from Elgin, IL

[Note: you can see what I'm talking about by searching My full name, "Mistress Lexi Tempest," or better yet, you can see just the spam entries by searching for "Mistress Lexi Tempest Sep 8" (in quotes) - just to make it easier to see what I'm talking about]

I thought it might be someone on their site using My name, so I did a Google Advanced search, and searched for the term in the bogus descriptions -"Mistress Lexi Tempest Sep 8"- on AFF.com and Alt.com, with zero results. My name alone does not come up on AFF.com, either. All this leads Me to believe AFF has used My [incorrect] info to fabricate doorway sites in order to get more hits from Google. Though I don't know why they would use My name instead of someone famous, lol.

I emailed AFF customer service asking why there are search results redirecting to their site, and in their response they actually said: "Note: We have used your name to google, and we would love to inform you "http://www.mistresslexitempest.com/" is not our site." [sm=ofcourse.gif]

Has anybody else  encountered anything like this? I'd love to hear about your experiences with this group of sites.
I *was* an alt.com affiliate, but I'm rethinking that decision...

[Edited to clarify]

I have heard that suich websites make up fake names and profiles to draw more attention.

Alt.com has a good free chat room. In years I have never met anybody through it except some nice bdsm people who get together for coffee. I assume they do something but I wasn't invited to their inner circle.

I can't judge whether the paid services are better.

When I was briefly on Alt, it was obvious they were stealing profiles from their other sites, or propping up abandoned profiles as current ones. The whole organization runs on a layer of fraud, IMO, even if there some real people there.

Hi lexy i just did a search as you suggested but nothing linked through to alt so i guess its ok now

Sometimes a smart affiliate marketer will may see an oportunity if they see someone is getting lots of web  traffic - so that i guess is a compliment because it means you are quite popular and these affiliates will use your good name as an opportunity to leach traffic off your name.

This is quite a commonn strategy  with some online marketers( I Myself am an online seo consultant and marketer)-If you continue to have problems feel free to emial me through collarme as i will be happy to show you how to make sure you rank better than these leaches if that what your worried about

I was on ALT for a while too.  As a non-paid member.  But it's true, ALT has a good set of chat rooms.

That's what My instinct told Me at first. Then it appeared to be substantiated by the fact that their entries placed Me in a Myspace friend's exact town... When you search for My name on Google, only two of My Myspace friends pop up, and (surprise, surprise!) he is one of them.

I just searched again, and sadly the entries are still there [sm=angry.gif] BUT, I have reported them all to Google as spam. The AFF customer service rep actually encouraged it! Haha. What a dumbass. Not to mention that the stuff I quoted in My OP came after I had to reiterate the problem to them 3 times...

Somehow I'm less than surprised now. Especially since they didn't seem to care much (if at all) about My concerns with the use of My name. I was nice at first, but after My last email to them, I don't think they're very fond of Me either. [:D] The whole group just screams "sleazy." Endorsement denied. lol

Oh, and in their last email, their "solution" was for Me to get a paid membership! Give Me a break. [8|]

[Edited because apparently the other mad smiley isn't working? lol]

Nah, I don't think payed alt is any better than free alt, sure you can view profiles and contact people,  and you can use special member only smileys and do a bunch of useless crap with your profile, but you still have the same flakes and players and time wasters, just now you pay to find out.
