I've been there, and I addressed it directly. Snoring is a medical issue, like it or not. There are things that exacerbate it, and there are things that can be done to correct it. Impeded breathing while sleeping is a health issue if not directly life-threatening yet. As his Mistress, I took the bull by the horns and we talked diet and other remedies immediately. Until those took effect, there are throat sprays, medications and sleeping position training that can help me get some sleep.

Just like any other medical issue, we work on it together for the benefit of all involved.

Small snipped bit: The Problem
Some 45 percent of normal adults snore at least occasionally, and 25 percent are habitual snorers.

Only recently have the adverse medical effects of snoring and its association with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome (UARS) been recognized. Various methods are used to alleviate snoring and/or OSA. They include behavior modification, sleep positioning, Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP), jaw adjustment techniques, Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP), and Laser Assisted Uvula Palatoplasty (LAUP).

What Is Laser Assisted Uvula Palatoplasty (LAUP)?
LAUP allows treatment of snoring and mild OSA by removing the obstruction in your airway in an outpatient setting under local anesthesia.

You'll have to read more for extra information.

My mother has sleep apnea. She snored quite a bit at one point - though my father is far worse. She will also sometimes stop breathing for moments during the night. She uses a CPAP machine to force air into her while she sleeps.

I believe I snore lightly due to allergies and allergy related congestion - but I've recently been prescribed Loratadine and Nasarel (a pill and a spray) that should supposedly relieve allergy symptoms.

No one in my house snores regularly but only when we are ill or in a weird position.

I don't sleep with my slave nor does he sleep in my room -- he has his own little 'den' that is his space in our house. On those ocassions when he's gone on trips with me to various kinky conventions or for readings we do sleep together and see first sentence.

I'm much more difficult to sleep with frankly cause I like my space and I kick!

nephandi -> RE: When something keeps you awake (12/13/2005 7:25:59 AM)

i once hit my Dom hard enough in my sleep to cause a nosebleed and i knik bruises on him and leve scratch marks on my own body, i dont know if i snore, but i sleep werry uneasy, he is putting up whit it but have jokingly said he want seperate beds when we get more space.

WulfMan -> RE: When something keeps you awake (12/13/2005 10:42:34 AM)

there are a few things you can do, ussually it's a nasal blockage. Breath right strips work really well you can get them at any pharmacy and such just place it on the nose and it opens up the air ways, also sleeping on your side helps.

MHOO314 -> RE: When something keeps you awake (12/15/2005 11:01:37 AM)

Not with subs, but in the past two years it seems I have become this expert in sleep apnea, with friends enmding up with everything from sleep masks, to low thyroid to palate implants---so it will be something that I will have him (if the new boy snores) look into as it can be very dangerous and even lead to narcolepsy (sp?)--

FelinePersuasion -> RE: When something keeps you awake (12/27/2005 1:10:31 AM)

If they wanted to sleep anywhere near me no one I would consider would snore. I hate snoreing. If they snored well then they'd never be allowed to sleep in the same room with me, and if even in other rooms their snoreing bothered me cause it was so loud they may have to sleep outside lol.

you mean to tell me subs are allowed to sleep WITH the Mistress?

holy shit batman.

never been there

never done that

indeed it takes all kinds

LadyJC -> RE: When something keeps you awake (12/27/2005 8:33:21 AM)

Since I tend to sleep like a rock snoring never really bothered me and I got used to my father's snoring. I used to sleep right beside their room and could hear him through the walls, I got used to it rather quickly. However apparantly if the bed is smaller than queen sized I tend to get rather abusive.
Such as kicking, pushing people off the bed etc. Hey what can I say? I need my space.

narcolepsy is a very difficult thing. It is caused by the absence of a chemical in the brain and is a hereditory disability. My slave has it and it is the source of immeasurable stress for her.

I would be interested in learning if others in the lifestyle are dealing with narcolepsy. Maybe we can start a new thread or just PM me.

windchymes -> RE: When something keeps you awake (1/3/2006 1:29:52 PM)

If there are no medical problems troubling the snorer, and it's just gentle snoring, earplugs work wonders for the.....snoree??? The one awake. I've used them for years, even for when neighbors are having a party and I have to be at work before the sun comes up. Never leave home without them.
