Have seen this in many profiles as an interest, and it has me intrigued, how does this work, is it straight confinement, what are the finer points of making it work well in a scene...

Take one naked submissive, a pair of high heels, a stripper pole at a public club, a single tail, and about 50 yards of plastic wrap.....

Damn, where's Merc when you need him?? [:D]

If you heat it with a blow dryer on a low setting, it shrivels up, making the bondage tighter.  Alas, plastic wrap has become a hard limit for me, because I honestly can't justify putting that much plastic in a landfill for one use.

MistressOfGa -> RE: plastic wrap (10/24/2008 8:20:04 PM)

Don't forget to poke breathing holes [8|]

Seriously, I enjoy working with plastic wrap in a scene. The key here is utter trust. It is total confinement, the bottom can not move. I start from the bottom (feet, no pun intended) and work my way up. Once the sub is completely encased, I have him lie back on the bed. At that point the top can say most anything thing that pops in Her/His perverted head <s> I have had good and bad experiences with this. With my current sub, it didn't work out well. That is all I will say about that [&:]

Be sure you have surgical scissors on hand, in case there is a need to get the wrap off of him quickly. Be prepared for anything and everything. Never take your eyes off of the sub while he is encased. If there is a problem, panic, anxiety or whatnot, use the surgical scissors to cut the wrap from his face first. Don't start from the bottom. Once the sub's face is free, any panic that they may have been experiencing should subside. Lie beside him and talk to him, sooth him. Basic aftercare. Once he is calm, gently unwrap the rest of his body. Continue with aftercare.
This is the way *I* do it. Other's may do it differently.

MistressofGA gave you lots of sound advice.

I would just like to add: you can get really hot/sweaty under all that plastic wrap, and if/when it is cut off, your body temperature will get drop pretty quickly, so you should have a robe or clothes ready.

I'm quite fond of flogging it off  [:D]

darkfootsteps -> RE: plastic wrap (10/24/2008 11:58:28 PM)

Blinks at flogging it off, wonders if i should make my foot steps really quiet

MaamJay -> RE: plastic wrap (10/25/2008 1:42:50 AM)

I enjoy using it on a sub too, but not in midsummer in Australia! It's a great winter activity here. I agree on the safety scissors for cutting it off and on having a towel on hand to dry off the sweat and a light rug to keep the sub warm once it has been cut away. If the head and face is bound, be very careful to have air holes and/or a breathing straw. I have seen simple breath play done with the straw (ALL CAUTION here! In that case the sub had a blink signal as a safeword and the Dom's eyes were locked onto the sub's with another Dom acting as back up in case a signal was missed). I have bound the face and head with crepe bandage instead which is a bit more breathable and gives a great mummy look! Another fun thing is to leave the dangly bits out and wrap around them ... or more riskily, to cut a hole to expose them (safety scissors!!). They can be teased and played with and the sub can't otherwise move. At a play party with trusted friends, I used a blindfold and ear plugs for sensory deprivation, left the dangly bits out but wrapped in a sign just above them saying "Please feel free to touch these and tease me!" I was keeping an eye on the situation of course, but it drove the sub happily nuts not knowing who was touching him. Other options include flogging a wrapped sub, one who is a bit "wussy" about a flogging may well enjoy it as the wrap turns sting into thud.

One thing, keeping someone wrapped and standing a long time can induce fainting due to a lack of circulation. I prefer to wrap someone onto a chair and leave their feet free so they can wiggle their toes ... or to have them stand next to a bed, wrap them and then help them lie down. There's a trust exercise just in that, hard to let yourself go when you are powerless to save yourself from falling. Remember to set up a safe signal before you start so the sub can communicate that they are having a problem. With a novice, don't wrap the head and face at all, the body wrap of itself is quite an adventure.

As a dom/ina:
You'll want at least two people to accomplish the mummification, just so that one can steady the sub, and especially if it's a large sub and small dom/ina.
1. start wrapping from the neck & shoulders down—that way the sub can keep hir own balance until you are wrapping thighs or knees.
2. be aware that you will be raising the sub's core temperature, and very quickly; having too many wraps/covers/comforters/quilts for aftercare is a whole lot better than putting the sub into an artificial state of shock (major symptom of shock is significant drop in body temp.).
3. the sub will need a secure place to repose (recliner, laid out flat, sling, other) and must NEVER be left alone (sensory deprivation can make it seem they are, but that's a mind game).
4. plastic wrap is only the first layer of mummification; once wrapped, the sub is taped (only atop the wrap, because tape adhesives are chemically less than great skin treatments!).
5. the wrapped sub is now completely dependent on the dom/ina…for everything from having their nose scratched to basics like a sip of water.

Variations include cut-outs for more than just the dangly bits, where varied sensations can be applied.

I use food-grade plastic wrap (under the wrap it's like a steam bath/sauna to the sub, perfect for osmosing chems into the skin while pores are wide open; I'm not going to use commercial shrinkwrap or the like) and have not yet done more than a neck-to-ankles mummification.

Now, all that said, if anyone knows of a good, flexible, waterproof, and variably colored wide (2 inches/5 cm) tape that doesn't cost the earth AND doesn't gum up pool & spa filters, I know a mermaid-maker (waist-to-toe mummification, with costume aspect) who really wants something now that duct tape has proven itself nasty to those filters. He once had half a dozen mermaids in a pool at a kinky event; the board he uses for the base of tail gives them truly excellent swim-ability (think dolphin kick, but with fins).

At the request of one sub, I did a mummification using clear tape over clear plastic wrap. Oddly like a human chrysalis.

Combine the plastic wrap and a blind fold, warm water and a sharp knife. But don't let them see the warm water.

Wrap the sub in the plastic wrap, make sure they see the sharp knife before you blind fold them. Use the floggers, paddles... whatever you like, just get them to the edge of subspace. Then tell them you are going to lay them open. Take safety sissors and start at the bottom cutting open the plastic wrap and slowly pour the warm water where you are cutting. The combination of the mindset they are in, seeing the sharp knife and feeling the warm liquid run down them is a serious mind f*ck.

Just a thought.

You know, Jewel, that's really not a very nice thing to do to someone. [:D]

He might want to try Vetwrap, or one of the generic equivalents. It's not tape, but it might work for his purposes with a little experimenting.

Has anyone every wrapped two people together with plastic wrap?  I think it could get interesting.

BDSMareUS -> RE: plastic wrap (10/25/2008 4:14:27 PM)

I personally love being wrapped in plastic.  Prob my favorite kink.  My Mistress prefers to use stretch wrap from packaging stores.  Comes with a handle and it easy to apply.  She loves to keep my bound on the floor and walks on me.  She sometimes also ties me to a pole and lets other prod and make fun of my predicament.  Lots of good times.

I adore plastic wrap!  And vetwrap, though a full mummification can be costly...   For those of us who are shibari-challenged, it's a wonderful thing.  Not so great for the claustrophobic, though, so scissors should be kept handy.  Sometimes you don't realize that you're freaked by tight spaces until it actually happens to you.

mummyman321 -> RE: plastic wrap (10/26/2008 9:00:32 PM)

Plastic wrap is great. I have been into mummification for 12+ years. I love to be totally mummified in it anywhere from hours to overnight. Its a unique feeling. Ear plugs and blindfold (or tape) will take away 2 of my senses. But I also found out it heightened another sensation. After a few hours in the wrap I was able to sense the Domme's body heat. Though I could not see or hear her, I always knew when she got within about 4 feet of me. And I could tell what direction. This made the sensation all the greater because I knew something was going to happen but did not know what. Stange part was it took a few hours of being wrap for me to be able to sense her body heat.

Back to the first question. The nice part about plastic wrap is that it sticks to itself. So if you wrap the body parts (arms, legs, torso) individually then wrap them together, the arms, legs, hands, are frozen and make the bondage completely immobilizing. This is neat for a couple of reasons. One for the sub it act like a security blanket. Its as if the Domme was holding him all over. Two it allows the sub to struggle as much as he/she can with no danger of hurting themselves. Three it is great for prolonged bondage. Unlike rope or handcuffs that can dig into the skin and hurt tendons and ligements the wrap does not hurt the body.

Last I do have to say you do need to be careful with plastic wrap as heat exhaustion, dehydration and hypothermia are possible bad side effects if you are doing prolonged scenes. I can better explain these side effects if someone is interested. Typically these only come into play if you are doing longer sessions 4+ hours or more. But I also want to add with the proper precaution you can keep a sub mummified in plastic wrap 24+ hours or more.

tiemetght -> RE: plastic wrap (10/27/2008 3:50:23 PM)

That's why I do love vetwrap...it allows the skin to breath more than plastic wrap but it can be just as tight and immobilizing since it too sticks to itself.
LadyHibiscus- I just found an online store called www.horse.com with less expensive vetwrap. There is a generic one I will be purchasing soon and will be glad to give you the results compared to real vetwrap.

Lucylastic -> RE: plastic wrap (10/27/2008 4:19:41 PM)

I love mummification, have been doing it for several years, vet wrap, bondage tape, plastic wrap(all those colours) and pallett wrap. Ive been to four workshops at various events and thankyou for posting mummified.net:)
Wrapping two together is much fun, specially chicken winged, all that wriggling and balancing, phew, is it hot in here or is it just me?
Using heat and cold(wax and ice) is much fun tooo, it heightens the sensations.
Yum yum yum
Lucy
