LadyEllen -> whatever became of the sovereign wealth funds? (10/25/2008 5:40:50 AM)

I recall back in January when I went to Prague that I took with me a copy of some high brow magazine which was making much of the rescue of the west by sovereign wealth funds coming from overseas - oil rich Middle Eastern places and maybe some others, dont remember.
Whatever became of all that, does anyone know? Was it all simply drained away along with the rest of whatever value was in the market? Or did it never happen in the end?
