softness -> personal goals .... SMART targets (10/26/2008 2:20:19 PM)

I just went through a target setting cycle at work .. we do them for the Little Devils 3 times a year, staff - being obviously slower on the up take - only get them once a year. Targets must be Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time related (SMART) ... they can range from "Come to school" ... to "Achieve 5 A-C grades at GCSE" .. We tell the little monsters that being SMART is what turns a dream into a reality.

One young hellion said she wanted her target to be " ... become more of a lady" .. I was shocked to say the least - and on asking why she said that she had lost a saturday job because her manners were non-existent. She had the sudden realisation that unless she changed .. she would get nowhere in life. I was profoundly impressed at someone so young being so mature. It was impossible for me to turn "be more of a lady" into a SMART target ... so we settled on not smoking in the playground .. and we would see what we could do about her social graces along the way.

Anyhow it got me to thinking ... I have lots of goals in life - some personal, some professional, some SMART, some little more than vague hopes that will take shape as time goes on.

Anyone care to share some of their personal goals? ... anyone care to try and give themselves a SMART target?

I have one ... by Christmas I will have trained myself to cope with needles enough to wear a needle and ribbon snowflakes for a Christmas dungeon party (currently I can stand them in my flesh during the high of a scene .. but as soon as I start to come down I realise they are there and start to freak out)

I would like to be more submissive to my HoneyMaster.

(uhm...don't tell Him that, though!)

no goals for me in private life..as I have to many at work.
I prefer to work together to fullfill or solve things. Personal targets can lead to opposing goals with in a team/relation :P
The noses need to be pointed the same way :P

( lol.. i just hate the word targets because of my work...  grin)

my goals are to become more fiscally responsible, to work on my emotional 'rough spots', and get myself and the cats across the pond!!

I am an engineer in a factory..and we participate in ALL personal goals from others..and then I have my own..lol
And so many contradict eachother...that they drive me nuts.
Oh well...they are nice for the bonusses..lol

I can understand people like goals...it limits the scope. You can focus on certain points..instead of many.

Personal goals...
To start earning money again with a career, not just a job.  It's been nine years for me and I'm so itching to get back into the workforce.  I feel like I've never come close to my full potential.   It's the one part of my life that I'm extremely disatisfied with and it's also the one part that I have the least amount of confidence in.  A bad combo.  They work against each other.  I'm seriously trying to not let that overwhelming intimidation and fear of failure limit me in the future.
And...I'm trying, really trying to be more pleasing.

I have a few critical short term targets I've been working on lately myself.  However, I've become a little frustrated due to unforeseen events and forces at work.  Type of stuff that is a little overwhelming and frustrating.

I'm working on some long term targets, those things are coming together a little more.

Softness thank you for the Smart formula. I will apply it for future goals. I have accomplished a couple this year and am proud of myself. My biggest goal is to complete writing a book and try to get it published.

To keep Greedy on *this* side of the pond, and lure the Softness over here!

IvyMorgan -> RE: personal goals .... SMART targets (10/26/2008 4:43:18 PM)

I want to write a 50,000 word novel/story during the month of November.

I want to lose 14 pounds by Christmas (this might not be acheivable, need to see the endochrinologist).

I want to change some of my views of myself, namely those related to my value as a person, entitlement to care, attention, love and respect.

I want to improve my ability to enforce personal boundaries/personal space.

(Those last 2 aren's SMART)

MadRabbit -> RE: personal goals .... SMART targets (10/26/2008 4:51:18 PM)

Finally and completely get rid of nicotine out of my life.

Iron out the rough spots with my early morning wake up issues so I have a perfect attendance record.

Improve my discipline with my spending habits.

Learn C++ by the spring to make things easier in school and start working on accreditation on the side.

Earn my target raise in December.

Be more sensitive with more empathic people and communication skills.

hey hey hey

I just got finished with one plot to get me caged stateside ... I don't need another one for at least another month

besides ... Greedy likes it here .. we have mushy peas!

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: personal goals .... SMART targets (10/26/2008 5:24:41 PM)

I'm not a goal setter in that way.  I don't ascribe to the "try to learn a new thing everyday" deal either.  I do have a plan for certain things in my life, but that's just a sensible course of action to behave and be able to maintain the style of life in the way I desire.

tweedydaddy -> RE: personal goals .... SMART targets (10/26/2008 6:32:11 PM)

I've watched the news, smart bombs never hit the intended target.
In real life and fetishism, we all have aspirations and dreams.
What a pity Dale Carnegie never got around to writing, "How to whip friends and influence people" and the business gurus never wrote "The one minute Master"
or is  it me?

softness -> RE: personal goals .... SMART targets (10/26/2008 6:39:00 PM)

it's you
