I'd like to do that, or pig tails with ribbons mixed amongst the hair, but I haveno idea how to.

Any of you know? And my hair is long and thick, incase that has any bearing.

There are a bunch of websites out there for this - most of them are period braiding with ribbons or leather thongs from the Middle Ages.  Just do a google search for "ribbon braid in hair" or some such and you should come up with it.  I have done it with a two strand braid and a ribbon folded in half to form a total four strand braid - it worked okay, but is hard to describe here without pics.

You can tie it at the top, weave it in with one of the three strands, then tie at the bottom. Use a ribbon 10 inches or better longer than the braid, you will want enough for a bow. When you are practicing use two mirrors so you can see the back of your head if that is where the braid is going to be. Also helps if the hair is wet or damp. I have had long hair for so long it is easier to french braid or plain braid my own hair than someone else's.
Try the public library for how-to books, they have nice clear picture how-to's.
Practice. This is a good excercise in patience.
Hope that helps, feel free to message me

Ellsa, I used to braid my own hair, or put it in a pony tail then braid it, and was never that good at it lol. I'd definatly be getting help lol.

And yes library's are wonderful tools:)

whenever i've done it, that's what i've done before. don't underestimate the length of ribbon you'll need, you can always cut off the extra if it's too long :)
it's a cute look :D

I looked up your profile, I have a couple decades on you, :)
One braid makes a good leash, two make good reins
:)
Seriously, the public library is where I got the best how-to's, that of course was before internet.
