You can tie it at the top, weave it in with one of the three strands, then tie at the bottom. Use a ribbon 10 inches or better longer than the braid, you will want enough for a bow. When you are practicing use two mirrors so you can see the back of your head if that is where the braid is going to be. Also helps if the hair is wet or damp. I have had long hair for so long it is easier to french braid or plain braid my own hair than someone else's. Try the public library for how-to books, they have nice clear picture how-to's. Practice.
