celtic, you and I disagree on many things, but not this. Fortunes are made during hard economic times, all we have to do is figure out how. What company, what stocks, what area in which to buy real estate. This depressed market can be be exploited bigtime.
People who shorted stocks a year ago are sitting pretty right now, people who bought property in a distressed condition would probably break even if they had to sell out now, but if they can hold on for a couple of years will profit. GM stock almost dipped below the price of a gallon of gasoline. What a trip.
But that wasn't the point. The point was when are our supposed leaders going to read and adhere to the tenets put forth in the very dicument that supposedly empowers them ? They seem to have no cognizance of it's existence at all. They do whatever they want, and decree that we must do whatever they want. I am starting to think it is worse in the US, because even though we have that cherished document, nobody seems to be able to read it.
We have had witch hunts and burned people at the stake. We have had the trial by water, at which if the accused survived the trial they were deemed a witch and once sizzling at the stake would probably appreciate some of the water. The Constitution existed at that time did it not ? If witchcraft is a religion at all, would it not be protected by the Constitution ? What about McCarthy ? There was never one single law against being a communist. OK, I don't agree with communism, but with this blacklisting and all that, what really came of it ? Did we immunize ourselves against a certain influence ?
Or did we do what people always do, fight for their rights and those belonging to only the peiople who agree with them ? That is my point. It is your right to smoke crack. I do not some crack I smoke pot. If you support my right to smoke pot I will support your right to smoke crack.
In other words we must work together. The whole idea of homosexuality is repulsive to me, so I am very proactive in that stance, know what I do ? I don't do homosexual acts. Abortion is murder, plain and simple, so you know what I do about that ? I don't have abortions. I think doing heroin all the time wastes a person and they should not do it, it is one of the most destructive drugs around, know what I do about that ? I don't do heroin.
Is anyone here picking up what I am laying down ? Does anyone understand that we need to think outside of our own wants and desires and work together with people to try to gain and/or hold whatever rights we have left ?
My Grampa said "Your rights end where mine begin". He was a wise man, and even having been dead for decades, he gets smarter every year. It's only when we affect society that some sort of regulation is needed.
Government, offhand, and probably on purpose screws up everything they are supposed to do. Do I think idiots should be allowed to drive around in cars that spew black smoke so bad to the point it leaves a mark on the pavement, and stinks really bad ? Hell no (I have seen this and it was a beautiful Caddilac). But instead of going after offenders who pollute more than twenty times the limit, they can put in some reciepts and get the exemption, but when my buddy's car fails on NOX it sits in the driveway, despite the thousand dollars we put into it trying to make it pass. We needed a hole in the wall, but what we got was the eye of a needle.
They literally screw everything up, they have no concept of how bad the economy is because when you are rich you simply aren't in it. I know we are in a recession no matter what they say, whether they are lying or not.
In short, if they are not totally incompetent, having lived sheltered lives, being rich from the time they were born and really have no grip on reality that only leaves one conclusion logically.
And that conclusion is that they are our enemies.
