I've had possessions on the mind. What's your favorite possession, and why?

MadAxeman -> RE: Possessions (10/29/2008 12:42:19 AM)

My Fender Stratocaster. It's a U.S limited edition plus
I've had people come and go, all sorts of expensive electronica bought, die and replaced. Bikes, an assortment of items that were of greater monetary value than the guitar.
I can't replace it like for like. Even with a vintage issue, it would take five or ten years for it to feel as comfortable. I've played $30,000 guitars in shops and can't play them as well.
When I have felt low, just putting it on it's stand so it's the first thing I see when I wake, is a boost.
Might add another, but will never swap it for another.
We're partners for life now.

That's awesome, MadAxemen, thank you for sharing!

Probably my pictures....my great-grandfather at his 102nd birthday party...my grandmother and my dad when he was a baby.....or my college scrapbook....I like a lot of my possessions, my tv, my computer, etc, but almost everything can be replaced...believe me, I had to start over with a suitcase, my car, my computer and my cat 10 years ago after leaving an abusive partner, and now I have reams of stuff.  I am a bit addicted to clothes shopping and have closets full, but again things can be replaced...

osocurious -> RE: Possessions (10/29/2008 1:20:14 AM)

lol ... [sm=bowdown.gif] stratocaster ...VERY Cool [;)]

… hmmmm …. Colour me guilty .. I have lots of “things” that I’m proud of, and love.
My Grandmothers china, my Great Great Grandfather’s violin … I collect art, and have a house full of stuff … some pieces that I’m pretty proud of .. blah blah blah … *yawn* … boring to anyone else I’m sure.
What’s that old saying??
One persons trash is another persons treasure???

I guess my favorite possession Right Now would have to be my Albion Dressage Saddle Mostly because it’s fairly new … I’ve wanted one for eons .. And somewhere in my delusional dreaming … *laughing* … I somehow think THIS is the saddle that’s going to be the difference between mediocrity and Brilliant Grand Prix ability [:)]
*koff*

I wish there was a saddle that could vault me to mediocrity:p  I'm not sure they even make saddles in my size, heh.

My son. My antique pics of my grandmother as a dancer. My sons baby pics. thats about it. i am not tied to anything else. Ok, well maybe my shoes too!

EDITED TO SAY:ok. I guess i cant really own my son . He is a little person and not a possession. But adore him, I do.

sambamanslilgirl -> RE: Possessions (10/29/2008 4:49:42 AM)

i would have to say all the stuff (from posters to drumsticks/guitar picks and other misc things) collected from rock shows i've reviewed ...so far.

i have this idea - to covert an old building into music venue/museum where i can display a good majority of my collection.

sirsholly -> RE: Possessions (10/29/2008 4:55:07 AM)

Pictures, home videos...things you cannot replace.

Lashra -> RE: Possessions (10/29/2008 5:46:52 AM)

My malesub. He makes me happy and always brings a smile to my face. He is rare and cannot be replaced. I would not take a million dollars for him. So with all that going for him, yes he is my favorite possession.

Dang....i'm a little disappointed...This is not at all the type of  'possessions' i was thinking about.  i thought i was finally going to have an opportunity to tell You about the time these religious fanatics attempted to perform an exorcism on me..Sadly, it was unsuccessfuly. So, according to them, i continue to live with the anti-christ inside of me.  hmmm..
Anywhooo...... As for material possessions, i don't know if i'm just really shallow or what. But, truly i don't have any significant value or worth of any material possession.  i guess i just don't see them as that important. The memories i have in my head (both positive and negative) are far more powerful and important than anything i could hold in my hand.

My passports; my old B&W family photograhs; my Cambodian buddhas; my diamond ring; my Magen David pendant; my books; my shoe collection [8D] .

purepleasure -> RE: Possessions (10/29/2008 6:08:37 AM)

I'm sitting here thinking if there were only one inanimate object I could save if there were a fire in my home, (family and pets first - that's a given) what would it be.  My important documents folder.  Our birth certificates, Social Security cards, CDs with family pics scanned, copies of our driver's licenses, and all of our insurance policies are in there.

Darias -> RE: Possessions (10/29/2008 6:17:28 AM)

first few years of my adulthood i was a nomad. i literally lived out of a rucksack for weeks and months so pretty much aside from said rucksack (which has seen as many countries and hotels as me plus 1 ) i cant think of anything i couldnt live without / would grab in a fire / if i had to leave tomorrow. well maybe my ciggeretees and lighter if it was a fire.. its hard to find open stores at 3am

like kali im not materialistic. my memories are in my head. i dont need the photo of my neice protecting her ballpool on her second birthday from all other kids to know what a treasure she is and how much i love the little terror.  everything can be replaced furniture electronics even photos (backed up online like agood nerd ) i went to canada for 3 years with the rucksack and a paperboy bag, i came back with the same rucksack paperboy bag an 3 more tshirts than i arrived with
