Venatrix, I don't think they (McCain/Palin) are the best qualified, but they are perhaps more qualified than some, perhaps many. I don't think Obama/Biden are the best qualified either. In terms of either parties candidates being qualified, or the best for the job, I'm of the opinion that none of them are. Who in their right mind would want this job, and at this time? I think anyone seeking it out is not of balanced and sane mind. I'm no fan of GWB but there is one quote, at least, attributed to him that hits the ringing bell of truth: "It's hard work." The only reason I see for one to seek out this job is extreme self interest and selfish motivation. That is exactly the dynamic I don't want in someone that has power, control, and influence over me, and countless others. I would prefer to have someone in office, almost any office, of clear mind, quick wit, deep intelligence, emotional health, an utter lack of guile, possessing deep integrity, and with an inclination to run the f*ck away from the office and responsibility. Perhaps we could impose the inderterminant office upon him, almost as a sentence for his qualities and previous unselfish good deeds. It is said that no good deed goes unpunished. As I am want to do I turn to a quote of another from another time, and thereby stand on the shoulders of giants: "All odds are on the man who is, intrinsically, the most devious and mediocre - the man who can most easily and adeptly disperse the notion that his mind is a virtual vacuum. The presidency tends, year by year, to go to such men. As democracy is perfected, the office represents, more closely, the inner soul of the people. We move toward a lofty ideal. On some glorious day, the plain folks of the land will reach their hearts desire at last, and the whitehouse will be adorned by a downright moron." Uncle Nasty
