I was watching things on history channel today they talked about the mentors in starwars and what they and do They talked about how a mentor had great wisdom
great skills and was magical to be able to guide not keep but help a person discover they true tallents  and encourage always the teacher the mentor is
alway sstead fast and well grounded  always trained are they in their mental physical and spiritual roles in the universe

they talk about the losses in lifes journey  after people who have tought us pass on
wether or not we have gotten the teachings 
they  talk about spirtual foundation  aka ( beleaving in something higher ) a purpose

I see these same things in bdsm relationships in good ones   well founded well structure well commited  like cement blocks on the foundation of a house

maybe starwars can teach us a thing or two   yep who knew

OK, this is going to be terribly embarassing to me, but here goes.

Everyone but me, it seems, has a richly textured fantasy layer that lays on top of their D/s. Maybe they read Marketplace when they were young? Perhaps Gor? Maybe they saw Secretary? For the most part, for my wife and I, it's just that I do a better job at making decisions than she does.

BUT.... there is exactly one moment that I know of when something we are doing actually registers with some image I had in my head that sounds master/slavey. It's when we're going to sleep and I'm holding her against me by her collar as we drift off. For some reason, I cannot shake the whole princess Leia, Jabba the Hut scene.

*sighs* Of all the imagery, I had to go with THAT??

lol.. this thread is SOOOOOO funny to me

Now, i will be honest, and saay, i have never watched more then..ohh..perhaps ten or so mins of the first star wars movie.. and that was it..
So, i never knew the BDSM flavor in the movies, and only just discovered so, recently, because my 11 year old daughter asked to dress as Princess Leia this year for Halloween. She and her lil male friend have been watching the movies a lot lately, they play with the light swords, and stuff like that.. and she told me he is dressing as Darth Vador.

So, i said sure!.. a white plain gown, belt, and sword...will be an EASY costume to come up with, and her hair is long enough for me to make the side buns, but she so insisted in telling ME.. that Princess Leia wears a Bikini..

So, i went and looked it up, online, and voila.. i learn Princess Leia had been a SLAVE... to my utter shock and amazement.. and boy has it gotten me thinking.. and wondering what exactly i'd been missing out on, all these years with ignoring the movies.. Think i might go and rent them all SOON.

And.. oh yeah, she is gonna be Princess Leia.. for Halloween.. WEARING a white gown, belt, and Light sword.. Not allowing her to wear a bikini... on Halloween... brrr!

I just bought new checks from a printing company and they have a space for you to put a quote or your company slogan. My checks are not Star Wars Checks but that is the quote I put on my Checks.

While some movies have an apparent D/s theme, some are more subtle. I always thought that one such movie was "My Fair Lady". It comprises of a natural Dom in Henry Higgins, and a natural submissive in Eliza Doolittle. He trains her and they both go through many changes as a result. You can see their tumultuous D/s journey take place as they eventually both arrive in their natural places together. As an added treat, the music is wonderful.

Yeah but Jedis have that whole "not being emotionally attached to people" thing - well unless you are a geek beyond the movies and read the books. And therefore wonder why Anankin didn't just say he was married because there is a precedent in the Jedi Order for getting married, however rare..

lol. Who would I rather serve? Um, give me Yoda please. not only does he speak in a really cool manner; He's cuter by far than Jabba.

Princess Lea, may have been a slave, but more in the forced into it/captured imprisoned sense than the willingly served with the only goal of pleasing said Dom. Not in the consensual way of the BDSM community (at large).
And that is in one scene in one of the movies; so if that's all you want to see; Lea as a slave I would recommend finding out which episode that was in ;) Unless you just want to see what it; Star Wars, is all about.

Sure, there were some power dynamics in the original Star Wars movies.  Some of what the OP mentioned, though, also relates to the very strong Buddhist lean to the philosophy of those originals (Which has since been bled out, much to the detriment of the movies).  And, you know a movie series has jumped the shark when it interjects a JarJarBinks-like character.
